A little noobie help please...

#1

Post by SmilingFury »

Hello guys,

I have recently contracted Spyderco-itis ,a rare disease where one is compelled to buy the best folders on the planet, and i am having a mini-fit of paranoia.
I recently ordered a sharpmaker with the UF stones(&other stones), a centofante3, and a delica4 ffg black.
I recently read the description in the catalogue on the delica and it mentions every color except black in the ffg. I am concerned that I may have bought an imitation. I purchased it from blade hq.

Does the delica4 come in ffg and in black? Do any of you have any experience with bladehq? Am I just being an idiot?
Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated as the internet is full of info but offers little definitive guidance guidance one way or the other.
Thanks again!

No worries, although the FFG Delica 4 originally came out without a Black version, it was introduced in Black in the 2012 mid-year supplement catalog. You have the genuine article.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Thanks for the speedy answer! My wife has been laughing at me for a couple of weeks as I have been watching reviews online. If I ended up buying a fake, I might never hear the end of it. She doesn't watch The Walking Dead like I do. She has no appreciation for having a good primary and a dependable backup. Lol. Now I just have to explain a few hundred feet of para cord when it gets here! :D . Thanks Ken.

A few hundred feet of paracord is nothing to have to explain.
You owe no one any explanation until you have six or seven 500 foot spools. ;)
At that point, you'd really better have at least occasionally sold or made gifts of stuff you made with it.

I seriously doubt that BladeHQ, an authorized Spyderco dealer would sell a fake. Where do you get your information?

They changed the product page on the Spyderco website to include black, also.

As an aside, I absolutely love my FFG Endura, and kinda wanna buy an FFG Delica to go with it. My wife has a half-serrated saber ground Delica, and it does nothing for me at all.

I just bought a couple of Para2s from BladeHQ. They were awesome to deal with!

Good score on your two knives... I have a FFG Endura, and love it, I really should pull the trigger on a Delica.

BladeHQ is a solid dealer and the knife does exist.

You win big twice :) .
