Finally jumped on the PM2 bandwagon
I finally ordered a PM2, camo handle, S30V blade from my online vendor.
I hope this knife will live up to it's reputation. I am a big fan of big bladed knives ( the military is about ideal), so i never got into buying the PM.
But seeing all those praise from the forumites who think the PM2 is the ideal EDC knife i jumped in.
It's in transit now, coming from canada.
It seems the PM is quit scarce. Is this limited to the sprint runs or a common phenomena for the PM2?

It's better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6
Just got my first PM 2 from WW in vancouver and it is very nice ( lock a little sticky but getting there with some use). I also wasn't sure about all the hype but now I can't keep it out of my pocket. It has become my favorite. The size, feel in the hand and the sound of openinig and closing is perfect. Sometimes the anticipation of its arrival out weighs the use of a new knife. This is not true with the PM2, it just gets better every day I edc it. Enjoy.
Orange Dodo, Jason Breeden Rescue, PM 2 Digi Cam & all black, Delica 4 FRN Green & Purple, Manix 2 Lightweight Blue, Yojimbo 2, Native 5 Moonglow, Sage 1

The similarities stop with the name and lock design. Believe me, I started with the PM1 and at first didn't really get it until I held both of them at the same time, then I was blown away.CombatGrappler wrote:Let us know how you like it. I've already got a PM1 and have been wondering if there is enough difference to justify buying a new knife.

ain't it the truth, ain't it the truth?!
Hype isn't something I normally fall prey to- my PM2 arrived this a.m., It is everything that is said about it.Evil D wrote:The similarities stop with the name and lock design. Smooth, fast & quality. Value & features that are over the price point.
I've had the same :spyder: Caly jr since 2000, a Tenacious, SuperLeaf and PM2 have been purchsed in the past 3 weeks. I may have a problem  , but it isn't picking the right knife.

I'm not a lefty, but can close the P2 with the left hand. Practice should suffice for me. yymv.wolfgaze wrote:New to the forum and knife-collecting in general.. A few questions about this model....
- Was it discontinued or just currently in limited production?
- With the locking mechanism design can left-handed users close this model with one hand?
Thanks for your feedback.
There are some dedicated left handed Military models- not sure about the P2.
I'm guessing the demand for the P2 has exceeded the supply - keep your eye out and wallet at the ready (or in other words: be patient and fast)

I wouldn't call current production "limited" per se - it's just that the knife is insanely popular and Spyderco can't keep up with demand with all the other knives they are making in the same facility. I personally find the compression lock somewhat awkward right or left-handed , but I said the same thing about the ball lock before I owned one. I had such an established muscle memory for lockbacks and frame/liner locks because I owned so many of them, that anything different felt strange to me.

Left or right handed: Push the lock bar, let the blade swing open or closed and enjoy. For me closing the Compression lock with my right forefinger is the easiest way, left hand thumb closing sometimes feels like having little control over the right handle scale but it is easy as well, maybe not as fast as holding it with the right hand between thumb and three fingers while manipulating the lock. My three PM2s didn`t need much breaking in to get them butter-smooth the blades move all the way by gravity when the lock is released and keep safe closed/open.
The standard model is not limited production, BUT, there have been a number of "Sprints", and "Exclusives" that can be considered limited production...wolfgaze wrote:New to the forum and knife-collecting in general.. A few questions about this model....

There is a heavy demand for this knife right now, so it may seem like even the standard models are limited production , but that is just that supply hasn't caught up, yet...
