Caly Sprints are out?

#1

Post by Donut »

I just noticed while looking for info on a Caly model, that SFO is showing an "Add to Cart" button for both the Caly 3 Super Blue and the Brown Calypso.

Caly 3 SB: http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=795

Calypso: http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=798

IMO, this is excellent news. That means they are at Golden and will be shipping out to dealers in short order.

It should be a fun couple of weeks coming up as they filter through distribution. :)

Terrible month for the wallet. Haven't made up my mind whether I want to get some of the SB 3s yet, as I much prefer my SB 3.5 over the ZDP 3.

I'm curious as to why the retail price is hiked on the Caly 3 Super Blue at $219.95 when the Spyderco MSRP is $164.95, yet the other Sprints like the Calypso and CF Dodo match Spyderco's MSRP?

I just picked up a Caly 3 SB today at the SFO. I'm looking forward to putting my 1st SB blade to work.

Yes we can be, but it doesn't mean I will not skip a meal or two to make it happen.

IRS isn't even starting to accept returns til January 30, and we're hearing most will hit later in the quoted 8-23 day time between acceptance and refund sent due to increased and immediate audits. Also you're looking at a late Feb/early March date for acceptance if you have depreciation ^_^

I tried logging in and couldn't. I attempted to create a new account. No good. It's frustrating. I've been waiting for this one.

Correct. I'm pretty surprised (based on that) that they are arriving now. OTOH Sal said they were well along back in November or something so I was also surprised that KCs data was Q3.... You just never know. Part of the fun!

Anyone seen them anywhere else?

Mother of Pete! I'm going to become homeless soon with my spending on knives. I'm trying to resist purchasing a full-sized Caly. Give me strength.

Joe, if I can be of any assistance in any way, zip me an email at newellj at gmail dot com :spyder: though I suspect SFO will not be the lowest cost source?

They're going at $165 at SFO, and most preorders are in the $140-145 street price range. Both include shipping. I got one from SFO because I find their QC to be top notch. I'll probably snag another from somewhere else for a safe queen.

I really want the Calypso sprint (especially after falling in love with the Brown G-10 from the Southard), but does anyone have an idea of when a Caly Jr. sprint would be released. With my luck, after buying the full Calypso, the Jr. sprint would show up net month.
