Future Fluted Ti Models?

#1

Post by DCDesigns »

I am impatiently waiting for my Fluted Military to arrive in the next few days (will post up when it does). And I got to thinking about future fluted models.

I know the Native 5 is slated to come out soon (any info on when or where to preorder would be appreciated, please post below!) Oddly in non-heat colored scales. Which I will remedy quite easily with my blowtorch when I get one. (also will be re heat coloring my mili if I dont like the way it looks.)

But what models are coming after that?

I assume there will be a UKPK in fluted Ti since the Ti model is already being made. Logically it would be the next easiest to retool for fluted scales.

I would love to hear there were going to be fluted Ti versions of the Manix 2 and PM2 like they have done with many handle materials. (and what if that para was a framelock!)

What do yall think is coming?

certainly it was. Most likely due to insufficient sale, so I am not sure that it worth the risk for Spyderco to make Fluted variant. But I would buy one, of cause if price is right.
For now, I cannot wait Ti Fluted for native5. Even more I really like that N5 will not be colored.
I think that Ti Fluted Leaf Storm would be nice. Anything from Caly family too.

Hi DC,

Not plans at this time. We're having a hard time just keeping up with the 2 currently available.

I've been on a pre-order list at CS since 4/14/2011 for the fluted military. At this point I have kind of given up hope.

Hi Freediver,

Sorry for your disappointment. There have been issues with building them, but we're making progress.

Oh dear. And it was just earlier today that I told myself I better slow down on the spending... :D Thanks for the updates, Sal.

For those waiting for the fluted Military, I just bought one from a popular knife site who is in the "Works"!

I put in my order one week after you, so I'm still waiting as well. But with all the fantastic knives I've gotten in the meantime (M390 Para 2, Orange Dodo, Schempp Rock, PPT, Ti Sage, etc...) and the upcoming ones (Southard, Tuff, CF Dodo, CF/Damascus Caly3, etc...), I really can't complain. Sure, I'll be excited to finally get this beauty, but the fun I'm having until then isn't half-bad either! ;)

Sal,

Thanks for the response. I have never been disappointed with Spyderco. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. :)

My hope is that Spyderco just continues to make them at a steady pace and that I will eventually get a shot at a fluted Ti Milli -- same goes for the yo2.

I could see a Chaparral variant using fluted Ti. :spyder: has the "stealth" Ti variant already planned for production.

They basically arent. Dealers only get two or three at a time, and most of the time those go to people on pre order lists. Ive never seen one "in stock" somewhere, but there are a plethora on ebay. Get lucky and you might find a deal. They usually go in the $345 range on the bay, I got mine for $240 shipped I believe.
