I received an early Father's Day present. It's an FFG Delica in ZDP-189. Nice.

The things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. People are good; honor, courage, virtue mean everything; power and money mean nothing; good always triumphs over evil; true love never dies. A man should believe in those things, because they are worth believing in.

Hey guys,
My beautiful bride of 23 years, my son, and his girlfriend, all chipped in and got me a leafstorm as my fathers day gift.
They aren't going to let me have it until tommorow.
I'm a very lucky guy to have such a loving family, and can't hardly wait to open the leafstorm for the first time.
Happy fathers day to all the dads out there!
Later,
Don

^^^ Congrats on the Leafstorm, Don! (You lucky devil, you :p ). I'm pretty sure I'll be getting one for my upcoming wedding anniversary...we'll see. BTW, I think you should submit your first picture of the 'Storm for the 2013 Spyderco Calendar contest. Very nice. :)

Edit: I forgot to add that I too received a Spydie for Father's Day: the SS Balance. (Ok, so I may have purchased it for myself. But then again, I don't have any kiddos ;) ). I've admired this knife for quite some time and have been pretty impressed with it so far.

Hey spydernut,
Thanks for the props on the photo. I've been considering a submission to the contest, but with so many awesome photos already submitted, i don't think i'd have a chance.
congrats on the upcoming anniversary.
I first handled the leafstorm on my recent visit to smkw, when the wife and i went to gatlinburg to celebrate our 23rd anniversary.
She could tell i fell in love with the little green knife, and even though she boight me a black on black tenacious and a grasshopper, she remembered the leafstorm for fathers day.
I am a very, very lucky man!
You'll love this little big knife. Very unique and classy in my opinion.
You won't be dissappointed!
Later,
Don

Here's one downside to having a Japanese-American wife: According to her, if you give someone a knife as a gift, you risk severing the relationship. So no spydie gifts for me! Oh, well, I used the day as an excuse to get myself a Centofante 3.... which is a great little knife, by the way. Although she did give me Sharpmaker, which probably is an even better gift. Hmm, maybe she wants to ensure a clean cut.

Hey tod,
I was raised in the south with the same superstition, but the way i was taught to get around it was to pay the gifter a penny, so you're actually buying the knife.
The other knife superstition i grew up with was; if you hand some one an open knife, they have to hand it back open. And the reverse applies also; hand someone a closed knife, they have to close it after using it, before they hand it back.
Btw, my mother was from japan

New Member here,

That is a beautiful knife sharpguitarist...you are truely blessed.

I also purchased myself a knife for fathers day, my third spydy a para 2 with digi camo and black blade and am very happy with it. My kids are 12, 8 and 6....so they have limited funds. My 12 year old did make me a cool lanyard for it though.....hope everyone had a good fathers day weekend...and this forum is awesome.

Thanks for some response, SharpGuitarist. I'll have to bring up the penny idea with the wife at some point. Maybe I'll get a Spydie gift from her yet!

Great photos, btw. I love the looks of that knife, but since I have size XL hands, I'm afraid I'd keep nicking my index finger.

Hey cyberwaste,
Congrats on the g10 dragonfly! It is an awesome knife.
i've had mine for a while now, and it's such a step up from the frn version, that i'd compare it to a custom.
The g10 delica struck me the same way.
The addition of full liners, the steel backspacer, and the g10 scales makes these knives feel so much more solid and stout.
I hope you eventually get a leafstorm! You won't be disappointed and it will be worth the wait, i assure you.
It's a great slicer and locks up nice and tight.

Don
