Help! cant decide

#1

Post by bakercountyboy »

Trying to decide on what my next spyderco buy is going to be. PPT or the Carbon Fiber Lum? I'm leaning more towards the PPT but i cant stop lookin at the LUM. I know the fit and finish is great on the PPT's But i dont know how the fit and finish is on the lum.

Lum's F&F is typically really nice. There was a question at one point with the black coated/green handle Moteng (I think it was that run) with gritty action. Perhaps it just the coating. My ZDP-189 Lum Chinese was awesome.

Never held a PPT but you are comparing two drastically different knives. One being half the weight (or less) with a very flat handle, the other with a sculped but bulkier grip.

For me personally I haven't warmed up to the lum. I would choose ppt but that's me. More relevant is fact that I'm sure the fit n finish on any spyderco in this range will be great it's spyderco right? Can't go wrong

Another PPT vote. Really like that design.

I own neither. But I do own a Zulu, which is similar to a PPT in country of manufacture, sculpting of G-10 and lock. I LOVE it. It's one of my favorite Spydercos. For these reasons, I would definitely opt for the PPT if it were my choice here.

These are very different knives. How are going to use it?
The Lum is an elegant lightweight knife and is beautiful in design. It's role would be in the gents corner.
The PPT is much heavier, thick liner/frame lock, ment for hard work. You may not take this knife while wearing a suit.

Good luck with it.

My vote for the PPT, looks like it would be more comfortable in hand.
