5-6 May 2012, The Gun Store at Centennial, Centennial, CO – Martial Blade Concepts Progressive Skills Seminar
In this two-day seminar, Michael Janich will present comprehensive instruction in the fundamental skills of his MBC system and the progressive training methods necessary to make them into defensive reflexes.
This course will provide step-by-step instruction in the fundamental skills of using a knife as a defensive weapon, including knife carry, high-speed deployment, recognition and identification of common street attacks, defensive responses, anatomical targeting, and the realities of knife stopping power. Building on this foundation, it will introduce progressive training methods and reflex training drills to accelerate skill development and combat reflexes. Finally, it will include detailed instruction in MBC's close-quarters reverse-grip system and the methods of adapting that system to improvised weapons, including kubotans, pens, and tactical flashlights.
Students should bring purpose-designed training knives (ideally folding trainers that closely replicate your carry knife) and eye protection.
For registration information, please contact: 303-789-2582 or Info@CentennialGunClub.com.
Stay safe,
Mike

Some more information available on their website:

They used to have online sign-up, but appear to have temporarily taken down the system.

If you carry a knife daily as a main or backup weapon, I'd highly recommend Mike's training. The simplicity of his system is as striking as the effectiveness. Add to this that Mike is one of the most approachable trainers out there who brings a vast amount of knowledge to the table.
I hosted him here in Los Angeles last year and the seminar was a huge step forward for me - after having trained directly with him before.

Unable to make it to the seminar due to finances, but I did want to say that you did a great job on your recent Jumpmaster article, Mr. Janich. I had no idea that Spyderco took their blade designs serious enough to purchase one-of-24 machines in the entire world for their cutting tests, but it makes sense as to how their knives always cut as well as they do. This story is one of many great examples of how Spyderco is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that their customers get the best knife for their, sometimes very specific, purposes.
