Daydream knife
The Stealth Chaparral got me daydreaming today. How about a full Ti scaled Para 2 (no Ti/G10 combo on this one) with the same pattern, anodized black with a DLC blade?
Now THAT would deserve the name STEALTH.

I have found myself daydreaming about the upcoming Tuff designed by Ed Schempp...
I like your idea about the Para 2, but I wonder how they would do a compression lock with full Ti scales? Nest a steel liner in there somewhere, or use the framelock spring in the compression device? Neat idea if it would work.

I've been thinking about it also. Is that going to be the real name "STEALTH CHAPARRAL"? I like that better than Chaparral2.Evil D wrote:The Stealth Chaparral got me daydreaming today. I have to agree with you David. I have been thinking about that new stealth since I saw the video

My wife thinks I'm wierd for watching a movie several times that I like. I can't imagine what she'd think if she saw me watch the new Chaparral Youtube video several times. Even I think I may need help. In fact, I do need help. The help I need is a brand new Titanium handle lockback knife with a 2 13/16" CTS-XHP steel blade. If I had one of those I wouldn't watch the video any more. :DPARATOM wrote:I have to agree with you David. I have been thinking about that new stealth since I saw the video

Think the Salsa had one too...Jet B wrote:Wow... Yeah you are right, the ATR used a compression lock with the frame spring.
I just looked it up.
Yeah, that would be the bees knees. Want Ti/CF M390 Para 2 paired with a Ti/CF Elmax Millie.Blerv wrote:I dream of an integral locked para2. I'll settle for a ATR sprint tho.
And a 3v C95 lockback w/ the Tuff's pivot and Native 5 lock improvements....

My Sage4 is the first titanium anything I've owned. It does scratch easily. That makes me wonder what the handle of the Stealth Chaparral will look like after a little time. I don't abuse knives but I don't baby them either (well, maybe a little babying :) ). I wonder if scratches will detract from the beauty or add to it.

The folks in Taichung seem to have the equipment to do some very sophisticated texturing. Not sure Golden has the ability to duplicate that pattern.Evil D wrote:The Stealth Chaparral got me daydreaming today. I remember reading that putting Ti and steel components next to each other is a bad idea. Ti is so much softer that they tend to gall badly, especially after the Ti develops an oxide layer. That said, I'm no metallurgist or machinist, just a guy who reads too much :o .Jet B wrote:Nest a steel liner in there somewhere, or use the framelock spring in the compression device?
Anybody with some real experience want to chime in on whether or not this is actually an issue?

This was provided in the thread "So that's what stealth looks like?". You are only allowed to watch it once and they will know if you watch it more than once. :)

I like the Tuff and a few others but the Stealth is not for me. Right now, I am thinking about five Spydies I have on order, not to brag but to say that dreaming is hard and distracting
Getting a sixth knife soon as well but that subject will grace another thread.
Personally, I liked the look of the Tuff without them dimples but pre-ordered anyway.
