Help me identify this old Spyderco

#1

Post by Plate560 »

I was given this knife by a friend who has no interest in knives. She got it from her husband who is a cop. No telling where he "found" it. I was told by a guy it's a Police model but the finger grooves are different.

I love this forum. After looking at lots of pictures I didn't realize how many Spydercos I owned. Love them.

I'm pretty sure it's a Police someone ground finger grips into.

Maybe a Rookie it's hard it judge size.
My favorite Spyderco is the one I'm carrying now :p

I would say its a C07 Police, with wider opening hole /aftermarket/ and modified handle. Rookie had a lanyard hole afaik. This one aint.

Old Police C07 (no Boye Dent) if its a GIN1/G-2 blade then is from before 1998 if its an ATS-55 blade then its from 1999 or 2000 . And locking at the edge I notice it has had some sharpening done over time :) aside the crude modifications

If I'm seeing the blade correctly and there's no steel marking, just SPYDERCO, on the tang, then it's pre-1992. Given that, and the lack of a lanyard hole, I agree with the others that it's a C07 Police which has had its handle modified. Also appears to have either been sharpened a lot or ground down from a serrated blade to plain edge.

Blade just says Spyderco on one side seki on the other. It's a large knife. A friend thought it looked like someone ground the serrations off too. Thanks for all the replies. So y'all think the finger grooves were custom huh?
