How do I find sprint runs?
Guys I always see all these sprint run Manix 2. Can someone tell me where you find those at Spyderco or elsewhere? Where can you preorder those at? And how do you get notified about the sprint runs? Thanks guys!

It varies. Sprint Runs can be pre-ordered from any dealer that accepts pre-orders. Exclusives can only be ordered from the dealer or other entity that sponsored them or, in the case of distributor exclusives, from any dealer who does business with that distributor. Some sponsors accept pre-orders, some do not. Many, but not all, upcoming Sprints can be found in the print or PDF version of the 2012 catalog and, similarly, many of the recent and upcoming Exclusives can be found on this page.

Without keeping your ear to the tracks the best way is to find a dealer you trust to keep you in the loop. Whether this means finding a site you check semi-regularly which lists them as preorders (knifecenter, blade hq, gp knives, etc) or finding a dealer like Spydercovt which is a smaller operation and might keep you on a mailing list.SeanMc wrote:Guys I always see all these sprint run Manix 2. Other than that just know that most sprints will be around long enough to get one. The few situations it's a hot model (para2/manix2) you can often find it on ebay paying an extra 25%. This may seem like the end of the world but some are worth paying extra for if you don't want to sit around like a video gamer shut-in refreshing the various websites every 5 minutes.
PS: No offense meant with the video game shut-in, I qualify. :p
Yeah, there have been a few sprints that were completely sold out before i even heard they existed. Blerv said it though, get on the mailing list of all the vendors who do preorders.cckw wrote:I think he wants to know how to get the skinny on when they are coming. Not really. Most sprints don't sell like water bottles in the Sahara Desert, just a few.Roverrich wrote:So I just need to get on a mailing list for a Spyderco dealer? I always thought there was some secret handshake that I didn't know about or something LOL!
Find a dealer you trust that seems to list sprints and contact them. If they won't put you on a mailing list or something I would call another place. It's not a real science.
Otherwise I would pick a few sites and once a week type words like: "sprint" "exclusive" and "preorder" in the search window.
Something like this helps. <-- That's a link. The new forum design doesn't make it obvious.

Strange as it may seem, there is no secret way to have advanced knowledge of them all. Some Sprints have arrived totally unannounced. Am sure that will happen again. Up until recently, most of the Exclusives appeared without warning. The best you can do is download and check the catalog, check the Exclusives page I linked to earlier, and keep an eye on this forum. Unless you have deep pockets, in which case you can guarantee yourself a seat at the table by joining the Spyderco Collectors Club at a membership level that includes all the Sprints.

Noticed that, too. For now, I'm just pasting the whole link into the text so it's obvious. I suppose you could also manually change the color of the text and underscore it to make it look more like a link.
