Yojimbo 2 - where is it?

#1

Post by Buffalohump »

Have the Spyderco dudes got anything to report from the western front on this guy? Any sightings? Should we send out a recon party? Will it all be over by Christmas? Enquiring minds want to know... :p

I bought mine around Christmas. Have had it over a month. And I love it.

Yo 2 is an elusive one. I got lucky and snagged one that turned up at Howe's. But, that was a couple months ago. One dealer has april arrival. But, you know how that can change. Especially since some were saying february.

You could always suck it up and hit the bay for one.

I got lucky and picked mine up from TOM at http://www.spydercovt.com back in December. I have seen a few on the Bay for around $150 if you want to bite the bullet lol.

I was gonna say exactly what rg02 said. I have also seen them recently in that similar price range on B/S//T forums.

Was there a production hiccup? The model was released. I bought mine easily ... from the world's largest online retailer ... and for a surprisingly cheap price. From this (lack of premium pricing usually associated with high demand and low supply) I inferred that production was up and running. So what happened?

If I did have a negative comment about Spyderco, this would be it. Keeping up with the demand. I understand production, volume of units made vs. volume sold, popularity of a unit etc. It is a little tough though, when you have read all of the news about a knife and save money for it and anxiously await its release, feel like you are on top of the pre-order list and then it sells out before you get one.

By the time a second production comes out, you have lost the initial excitement and some may have totally lost interest. I was lucky enough to get a Yo2 when they first came out, but I want another one now and have no idea when it will be available.

Sometimes, I hate to get on a pre-order list, because I have seen times where I might have been down the line on a company's list and they run out before my number is called. Sometimes you are better off waiting until they are available, but you never know.

I have the same fear for the Tuff and a couple others that are coming out this year. You wait and wait and then are busy with family or work and miss out when they are released and by then it is too late. and there you are again in the the ole waiting line.

Yeah, I've lost interest in a lot of knives that way. I don't sweat it though, more money for other stuff I haven't lost interest in. I figure if I lose interest, I probably didn't need it.

I agree that it's frustrating though, but I prefer this to the alternative or not having as many models in the lineup or not making them in Golden.

My pre-orders never arrived (entered fairly late), but I landed one at slightly above the street price, then grabbed a second when a few arrived at one of the online dealers. They are produced in batches, I guess we are just waiting for the next wave.
I have too many expensive hobbies to even consider another one.

Remember the Para 2 when it was first released they kind of dribbled out of Golden. It was hard to find them and it took a while for production to catch up with demand! Try and be paitent folks!
I know it's hard to do, trust me I know it's hard to wait. I want one reeeeally BAD

This is definitely on my next knife list. I saw on eBay, but its looks like people are saying it's about 40 bucks more expensive there??

What is the expected price when these are normally stocked?? Because I'm getting the itch :D
