I'll cast a vote for a Manix 2 LW or a native, either the frn or 5. It's all good.

I like the Native 5. It will probably be on the higher end cost wise (out of this group), but...

I don't have a Native or a Manix, even though I considered them both. As I already own a few medium-sized lockbacks, I would choose the Manix LW (cheaper and lighter than the regular Manix).

I'd like premium steel in a Native 5.
I'd go for S90V, M390, CPM M4, ZDP-189, CTS XHP, SuperBlue.

I agree with Sonny. Native 5 with some M4 and deep maroon g10 scales.

Definitely Manix. A nice G10 one or maybe the lightweight, but it looks a bit "cheap" to me. Not that it is, just the plastic scales.

The native 5 is more expensive than a lot of people can afford, even in its normal steel. The goal as Sal has stated is to keep it affordable for as many members as possible. If you are suggesting an unobtanium steel dream knife, you are missing the mark for a forum knife.
If I see another g-10 manix I may puke, its about the only forum knife I would not want. I'll pass on the poll, but would lean toward the frcp manix. Carry on.

Even though I have previously pushed Native...I change my mind.

Because it is true that the goal be to have a knife that is accessible for everyone. How about something like a UKPK with a better steel? Maybe not totally out there like 20CP or S90V or anything,...but maybe XHP? Not sure the costs differences, but a ukpk with something special would be really nice.

An FRN UKPK makes the most sense. Even though I prefer a lock, I would get a forum UKPK (especially if it had CTS XHP :D ).

I voted Manix LW, but I don't care really which one it is. As Araneae said, the knife just needs to be affordable for most :)
