Paramilitary 2 in CPM - M4

#1

Post by DCDesigns »

There was a thread a while back asking about whether plans for one was in the works, but as these steel based threads usually do, it eroded into a general conversation about super steels. Personally I am still really interested! Id really love to see a PM2 M4, has there been any word of a sprint or dealer special?

m4 is my favorite tool steel to date, Id love to see it in more knives!

I really like the comp lock on the pm2, but i think it would be really cool (albeit unlikely) if a frame lock version were to come out for sprints in various steels. A framelock para2 in m4 would be SEXY. Kind of like a mini m4 military.

What say ye? any news, ideas or thoughts?

I'd buy that in a heartbeat!

I'm also getting excited about all the different exclusives coming out -

Bento Box - M390, Blue G10

Knife Works - CTS-204P, Green G10

Knife Center - S35VN, Brown G10

Ted, I think the S35VN isn't a dealer exclusive, I thought it was limited production or something. I think Knifecenter is just the first one to have it listed for pre-sale.

M4 isn't my favorite steel, but I'd be very likely to buy a frame lock Ti Para 2 with M4.

It'll be interesting to see the price spread on the Carpenter vs Bohler formulations of this steel... I've got the blue pre-ordered, probably won't go for the green.

I agree, I REALLY wish they were more descript with their green. Blue, pretty much no matter what, is going to be a color I like. Robin egg, midnight, ultramarine, it doesnt really matter to me. However green, can either be great or gross. Toxic green= YES PLEASE Forest green = No thank you.

Wow , that is AWESOME news. Yeah M390 is insane. Not sure about having another blue handled Spyderco though. The Sage 3 is cool with blue. But that's enough for me right now.

Sorry, I come to this late. Are any of these special runs available for pre-order from international customers? Thanks.

A Para2 and M4 would be a winning combo for sure. Personally, I'd like it as much as I do the coveted S90v Para2.

I think you are right, Donut. Come to think of it, I have seen it on at least one other web site for pre-order...

ATR style, Ti compression lock with M4 steel has vote.

I know BentoBoxShop has started shipping the exclusive runs internationally if you pre-pay the full amount. (link)

I e-mailed and they said they'd probably be able to do the same for the existing M4 Manix2 sprint.

I love the idea of a Ti framelock adaptation of the compression lock, but never having handled an ATR, I'm hesitant to say they should go all-out with a Para2 redesign. It's entirely possible the framelock conversion would ruin the best attributes of the knife...

I dunno, the Ti millie is a great knife but I find that I really prefer the millie in the standard platform. I'm sure that an integral comp lock para 2 will be a coveted knife but it might not be as preferable for me to carry often.

Also with the Military version they didn't totally redesign a new part for just the sprint, it was just the lock side of the already being produced titanium military with a G10 side. If they did a G10/Ti Para 2, and aren't planning on releasing a full production Ti Para 2, it would be very expensive to machine it for a small limited run.

Also as for as the Green G10, I'd prefer to see a Toxic green color G10, but think its much more likely that it will be the Stag Arms Manix 2/ Southfork Proto color G10, which is a darker hunter green.

I agree, the framelock millie just doesn't have that wicked talk when it deploys. I always felt the Military had a unique walk and talk unlike any other spydies and it was removed with the framelock.
