Paramilitary 2 in CPM - M4
Paramilitary 2 in CPM - M4
There was a thread a while back asking about whether plans for one was in the works, but as these steel based threads usually do, it eroded into a general conversation about super steels. Personally I am still really interested! Id really love to see a PM2 M4, has there been any word of a sprint or dealer special?
m4 is my favorite tool steel to date, Id love to see it in more knives!
I really like the comp lock on the pm2, but i think it would be really cool (albeit unlikely) if a frame lock version were to come out for sprints in various steels. A framelock para2 in m4 would be SEXY. Kind of like a mini m4 military.
What say ye? any news, ideas or thoughts?

It'll be interesting to see the price spread on the Carpenter vs Bohler formulations of this steel... I've got the blue pre-ordered, probably won't go for the green.phillipsted wrote:I'd buy that in a heartbeat!
I'm also getting excited about all the different exclusives coming out -
Bento Box - M390, Blue G10
Knife Works - CTS-204P, Green G10

I agree, I REALLY wish they were more descript with their green. Blue, pretty much no matter what, is going to be a color I like. Robin egg, midnight, ultramarine, it doesnt really matter to me. However green, can either be great or gross. Toxic green= YES PLEASE Forest green = No thank you.JacksonKnives wrote:It'll be interesting to see the price spread on the Carpenter vs Bohler formulations of this steel... I think you are right, Donut. Come to think of it, I have seen it on at least one other web site for pre-order...Donut wrote:Ted, I think the S35VN isn't a dealer exclusive, I thought it was limited production or something. I think Knifecenter is just the first one to have it listed for pre-sale.

I know BentoBoxShop has started shipping the exclusive runs internationally if you pre-pay the full amount. (link)bchan wrote:Sorry, I come to this late. Are any of these special runs available for pre-order from international customers? Thanks.
I e-mailed and they said they'd probably be able to do the same for the existing M4 Manix2 sprint.

I love the idea of a Ti framelock adaptation of the compression lock, but never having handled an ATR, I'm hesitant to say they should go all-out with a Para2 redesign. It's entirely possible the framelock conversion would ruin the best attributes of the knife...c.joe wrote:ATR style, Ti compression lock with M4 steel has vote.

I dunno, the Ti millie is a great knife but I find that I really prefer the millie in the standard platform. I'm sure that an integral comp lock para 2 will be a coveted knife but it might not be as preferable for me to carry often.

Also with the Military version they didn't totally redesign a new part for just the sprint, it was just the lock side of the already being produced titanium military with a G10 side. If they did a G10/Ti Para 2, and aren't planning on releasing a full production Ti Para 2, it would be very expensive to machine it for a small limited run.JacksonKnives wrote:I love the idea of a Ti framelock adaptation of the compression lock, but never having handled an ATR, I'm hesitant to say they should go all-out with a Para2 redesign. Also as for as the Green G10, I'd prefer to see a Toxic green color G10, but think its much more likely that it will be the Stag Arms Manix 2/ Southfork Proto color G10, which is a darker hunter green.
Ye$$$. :D But as Spock says, also fascinating. Spyderco listens, so we can hope. :) :spyder:michaelm466 wrote:Also with the Military version they didn't totally redesign a new part for just the sprint, it was just the lock side of the already being produced titanium military with a G10 side. I agree, the framelock millie just doesn't have that wicked talk when it deploys. I always felt the Military had a unique walk and talk unlike any other spydies and it was removed with the framelock.
