J Smith mentioned our downward spiral of restrictions in Sal's post on trends. Others have mentioned local laws saying 3" good, 3.1" bad (why?). Boston has said higher than 2" evil. Spyder_dude007 mentioned something about size restrictions (for his pocket knife) in scouts. Doesn't that seem odd?
I mentioned to J Smith that I agree with him about being bothered by the sheeple stampeding away my rights to asway their fears. Does anyboy else feel the same? Ideas to stop this?
I.E. I have found that some people can be turned if their fears can be adressed. In some cases I have turned people afraid of firearms around by taking them to the range and showing them good firearms saftey and sharing some basic knowledge of firearms. I try to do the same with knives. In some cases I start small (Ladybugs or Crickets) and try to challenge them to carry one everyday for a week. Some of those people now carry a small knife EDC. And those people are a lot more understanding of my EDC now.
"Ne vyklykaj vowka z leesoo, ..... bo tsej vowk maje <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> ." Don't call the wolf out of the forest, because this one carries a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> .

Stop the Sheeple Stampede
Your right, some places it may be a felony but here it is a misdamener and useally the most that would happen is the police officer(a smart allict rookie)would get a new knife.Legel carry here is 4 in.I can't imagine why anyone would be carrying anythimg bigger than that unless it would be a Catcherman or something simalar in which case any resonable person would understand the need unless you were in a night club and not comeing or going from fishing.

I had somehow thought this would have been a more popular topic. I thought Sal was more interested in knife designs and user wants then political bantering.
Maybe this post will put the topic up again and people will comment. If not I'll just let it die.
But knife owners/collectors remember we are responsible for protecting our rights, not somebody else.

I saw a show one time on Discovery channel about an older man who had recently retired to Canada. Only a few weeks after moving there he got lost in the wild not too far from his home, which he didn't find out till later. He went into the forest completely unprepared for an emergency except for one thing, he had a small pocketknife with him. I don't remember the brand, either a Buck or Case. He told the TV crew that his small pocketknife was the only thing that kept him alive. He was lost for about five days. He used the knife to strip bark from a tree to make a makeshift blanket and to find bugs to eat. The knife was also used for several other reasons, but my point to this story is...never leave home without it. If you are worried about offending someone with a big knife, don't let it be visible. Carry something small(Jester)for everyday cutting chores. I work in a clothing department store and if I pulled out my Shabaria in front of most of these employees, they would freak out. In fact, our company policy states that we cannot carry any dangerous weapons, including knives. I do not consider myself rebellious, but I am work right now and I have four...Shabaria,Salsa,Rescue and Jester on me. No, I do not flaunt them, but I do know they are there when needed. When I leave my house my essentials go with me. At least two knives, Surefire E1 flashlight, mobile phone and a Photon light on my keyring. You never know, just remember the story about the man above. He went for a short stroll and wound up being lost in the Canadian wilderness for 5 days. Imagine if he would have been carrying a Spydie!
ALWAYS BE PREPARED!!!!!!!
I live in the Canadian Wilderness or atleast five minutes away from it. I am in Northwestern Ontario. Anything can happen. Idon't know what it would be like to have to carry a knife for self defense. I always have one or two knives on me at all times. The laws here are fair. YOu can carry anything as long as it is not concealed. I have many times walked aroung with my Camillus CQB-1 on my belt. No problems. Just be smart about it. My EDC for the longest time was the military. The problem arrises only if you pull it out as a weapon. Other than that no size/length restrictions. Great to be a CANADIAN EH!!!!!!

the problem here is not what the laws are now. it is what people will do when their rights are taken away. honestly think about it. if you were to be told that you were not allowed to carry a knife anymore would you comply? would you just assume that someone else will handle the problem and meanwhile you should try not to get in trouble? just carrying knives isnt going to do anything. we need to fight for it. i can carry my biggest knife and for what? scare people? get them used to it? thats not going to work. we need to take action! it needs to be done now. picket in washington? sure why not? write to our senators? absolutly. the time is now my friends. one more terrorist attack and we can kiss our knives and rights goodbye. we need to do something now!

Right now the states that are the most restricted on the the Second Ammendment, MA, CA, NJ etc., are in the minority. My advise is to be politically active. Join the N.R.A., study were each politician, or candidate stands on the issues, and vote in every single election. If not, MA, CA, NJ etc. may wind up in the majority on this issue. RKBA!
