opening the GB?

#1

Post by wvguy8258 »

Hi,

I'm between a junior and gayle bradley. It seems the GB's hole is close to the handle in comparison to other models. In case I ever need to open this thing fast, does this hole placement tend to slow down opening for anyone?

Regardless of the hole location... I never noticed where it was relative to other models... The GB is one of my easiest and smoothest opening Spydies. It's lightning quick! Thwack! Like it's on ball bearings. One of my favorites.

I can't say that I have ever had an issue with the hole locatin on the GB. And it is the smoothest knife opening...just glides open then locks with authority. Just like racer said Thwack.

never had an issue, and I've open and closed it while in a bomb suit.

No opening issues for me but then the GB is not my SD folder.

Thanks guys! I don't carry a knife for SD primarily, but I wanted to be sure I could get it open without having to think about, just in case. Okay, looks like Mr. Visa is coming out.

GB is one of my favorite knives. The opening hole is "right there" and just as easy to find as any. Very smooth opening and just as fast to open as any knife. Some have said they have a harder time releasing the lock but I can release the lock and close the knife very easily.

For me, no issues. Possibly if I were trying to use it with gloves I'd feel slightly differently, but the GB isn't a with-gloves knife for my uses and I've never noticed any problems at all with opening the knife.

I don't have a bomb suit, but I can open my GB juat as easily in my PJs :D

BTW, if you find opening with your thumb difficult, try using your middle finger on the opposite side of the blade. Might take a little practice and a very small wrist flick to help it along. The GB opens so smoothly you'll find that you can flick it open easily that way...and still with a "thwack".

i'm actually having a hard time to get my GB to fail on an opening, even the slightest knock in the right direction and it glides open like buttah :D
