Screwed as a rolling change. I believe all have switched over slowly. I'd call and see which are in stock at your dealer if you have a preference.

I got my Spyderhawk Salt about half a year ago, and it's not pinned.

Salt Hawkbills: Meant for very hard use

#5

Post by JD Spydo »

I have both the Tasman & Spyderhawk in the H-1 Salt Series. I dearly love them both. I have the PE version of the Tasman and the SE version of the Spyderhawk. Their counterparts are high on my "gotta have" list.

Considering my love for Hawkbill blades I truly wish that they will even come up with more Hawkbills in the Salt Series as well as a new G-10 Harpy which is long overdue IMO. Actually I think the Salt Series would be great to launch a fixed blade Hawkbill.

Until you get a Hawkbill and work with one you won't even begin to appreciate one. The Tasman being a "Harpy-sized" Hawkbill has some advantages to the Harpy because of it's handle material and the corrosion free H-1 steel which is a great user blade steel. Everything in the Salt Series is meant to be used and used hard.

I would like to see a copy of the original Temperance fixed blade in H-1.

I clip a Tasman Salt Hawkbill onto my waistband for when I go running. I bought it specifically to resist rusting from my sweat. It has screws and not pins. I wish they made the Spyderhawk in another color than yellow.

Used to carry my Tasman every single day for close to 5 years or so...its taken quite a beating and shows no sign of slowing down...still carry it to work etc...along with the Spyderhawk and L.H.S. I'm definitely down for more H-1 hawks, thats for sure...actually more hawbills in general. Keep 'em coming!

i wonder if the yellow color is a result of considering the sheeple factor. people typically have a strong reaction to mine.

Easier to spot in water, etc...or just if dropped...

Color is not a Sheeple factor

Brother I really don't think that is the case at all. I actually like the color YELLOW for a folder that I use in several different work environments because it sure makes it easier to find when you lose or misplace it.

Sheeple as you call them are going to whine and complain no matter what kind of pocket knife or fixed blade you work with. Sorry to say that even most men are so emasculated in this country that they are literally afraid to even carry a pocket knife ( something every man did up till about 30 years ago :( ) You would be amazed at how many people ask me if my pocket knife is "legal" or not

The Yellow color is truly an advantage in many ways. I love the fact that the hard use knives of the Salt Series are YELLOW.

Torx screws for my Ladybug Hawk. Amazing knife, can only imagine how capable the Tasman and Spyderhawk are! Hopefully I won't be imagining for too long though :D
In hand:
Manix2 154CM PE, Dfly2 Salt SE, Ladybug3 ZDP-189, Ladybug3 Salt Hawkbill, BaliYo

On the way: nothing :(

RIT dyeing?

#14

Post by Nitsu.onileva »

I'm a noob here and I barely have any knowledge of knives. I have a Spyderco Dragonfly H1 Salt (the yellow one) and have heard you can dyeyellow but with only certain colors or else it will turn out black. What colors work with the yellow frn and what dye should I use? I heard people use RIT but I thought it was only for cloth. Please Help!!!

I wasn't too big on the yellow on my Tasman as well, that is until I dropped it twice in one day in some bush. Found it both times :)

My Tasman and Ladybug use screw construction. The Spyderhawk is pinned.
