Just ordered a Tasman Salt.

Turns out the salt series happens to be my favorite user blades from Spyderco. H-1 is great steel. I have found that holds a decent edge and is very very easy to get the factory sharpness back after heavy use. I order the tasman because I have never tried a spyderco hawkbill. Do yall have any insight over owning/using a syderco hawkbill? thanks

I've had and carried every day a se Tasman for about a 6 weeks now. Don't see myself without it anytime soon. Cut up some rope at work the other day and it just whistled through it. There are cuts where pulling is more advantageous so a hawkbill is the perfect blade for the job. Also nice to have H-1 and not have to worry about corrosion.

When you sharpen it, remember that the slots for the serrations are parallel to each other so don't roll the knife as it moves down the stone. I'm assuming yours is a se but I'm sure I'll make an *** out of me :D

Tasman SE = greatest pocket knife ever made, to me :)
I have both plain and serrated. I've been carrying the SE everyday for 2 years, plain edge is still in the box. I'm sure it's great though.
It's very useful from cutting to manipulating things with the curved tip. Just an awesome knife.

out of all my spydies (my favorites are the para2's) I carry the tasman salt the most. I've found that the hawkbill is waaaaaaay more useful than i ever thought. Mine is pe too, btw. Strangely, I'm jealous of your purchase, I wish I could live through it all again, it's such a great knife!

I've been using mine a lot at work the last 2 weeks cutting invasive reed canary grass seed heads off. I learned pretty quickly that the plant juices were causing surface rust on 8Cr so I switched to the PE Tasman. The shape lends itself to pull cutting and the H1 is not harmed by the plant residue. I do think the SE would be better for what I'm doing, but I don't have one.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Best variation of the Harpy they make, because it's H1 of course!! I live around salt water & it will not rust!!!

I love my tasman salt.
Mine spent the weekend clipped to my shorts while bodysurfing in the bay and skiing in a salty river. I used it to cut alot of line when we got a huge tangle while shrimpping. Two of the guys with us and one of the girls went online and ordered them a tasman when we got back to the river house.
It is a excellent knife..
