2011 Mid-Year Supplement: What do you hope to see?

#1

Post by jabba359 »

It seems like we should be coming up on the mid-year supplement fairly soon, as the 2011 catalog was released almost six months ago. What knives are you hoping to see in there?

Obviously, we should see the recently released Schempp Rock, Valloton folder, H1 Dragonfly 2, G-10 Cat and Chicago.

I expect we'll see:
•LionSpy
•Des Horn
•Junior
•Chaparral
•SS Balance
•Manbug
•Ladybug Tattoo
•Squeak
•Centofante Memory
•Yojimbo 2
•Massad Ayoob sprint
•Lum Tanto sprint
•Puukko

We might see:
•Tuff
•Southfork
•Fluted Ti Native 5
•Szabo folder
•Carpenter folder
•Techno (IIRC, this might be next year)

Knives that we've already seen in the catalog, but haven't been released yet:
•FRCP Manix 2
•Native 5
•CTS-B75P Manix 2 sprint
•CTS-XHP Millie sprint

A guy can dream, right?:
•Kris sprint with red G-10 handles
•75mm Persian sprint with red G-10 handles
•More Elmax, M390, S90V, and CTS-20CP in knives that we can actually get without putting in pre-orders at five different places only to have them fall through and at decent prices (I'm looking at you LionSpy). Maybe some patterned Damascus in a more usable knife (nothing against the Delica, but the Ti/bone is almost too pretty to use and there are way better Damascus patterns as well).

Definitely the SS Balance and Yojimbo 2.

Many you listed I expect to see there, definitely the Chaparral, Des Horne, Centofante.

The single knife in the forefront of my mind (knowing that the Chaparral should be out in a month or 2) is the Brown XHP Military. I have no idea if it's coming out in the next month or 6 months, but I'm really antsy to find out!

Centofate Memory
Lum Tanto
Native 5 Fluted Ti
South Fork

Dream Release:

Dodo Sprint
Worker with Ti Bolsters, Brown Jigged Bone Scales and Damascus Blade Sprint :D

Oh yeah, I had been thinking about that while I was typing up the "expect we'll see" section, but forgot by the time I got to the "might see" part. I recall Sal saying that the engineering prototype was almost done quite some time ago and he said in mid-March that he "heard yesteday [the Dodo sprint] was getting closer." This is one that I hope gets a decent sized run, as I'm sure there are lots of people excited to pick one up. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether the sprint is the same as the re-engineered Dodo. Seems strange to re-engineer the knife, only to release it in sprint form.

Pretty much agree with your list except I'm not sure about the Tuff. ETA on it may still be too far out to include it. I'd hope to see the Sage IV, but don't really expect to.

We have extremely similar dreams. I would probably crap my pants if there was a sprint run of the Kris.

Think Jabba pretty much nailed it. Hope the Chaparral is in it. Would love, but don't expect, to see a reprise of the "real" Kiwi and share Teddy's feelings about the Sage 4.

I know that it won't be, but the Techno. Despite my issues with frame locks and being a lefty, I am really excited for that small yet tank like little knife.
