more models in ti/g10!

#1

Post by Popsickle »

My m4 mili is by far my favorite spydie and I can't wait for the lion spy and the tuff. Does anyone else love the ti/g10 mix as much as I do? It doesn't necessarily have to be a framelock(although that is very cool). I would love to see some other models made like this :-)

Yes, definitely on board with the Ti/G10 hybrids. In the Military, personally, I think it's the ideal balance between the all G10 and all Ti models, but I think it'd work great in a number of other models.

BTW, don't forget the Leafstorm!

I'm not a huge fan of metal or G-10 as a handle material, but, yes, the Chokwe is one sweet knife.

Wish Sal 'n company would do the Ti/G10 Military in a stainless. I just didn't have the comfort with the M4 on my rainy scouting/backpacking trips. Love the feel though, but just wish I could get one with S35VN, or heck, even CTS-20P! :D

Agreed. Ti and G10 Framelocks are by far my favorite rigs. I just wish they’d go one step further and incorporate an INTEGRATED G-10 backspacer, to forgo the steel liners on the G10 side, while adding strength. This would make the whole package lighter in weight and easier to EDC.

Integrated? As in, from a solid piece of G10? As in, milling the blade cavity out of a 5/16" thick block of G10?
I guess if you don't mind paying Sebenza/SR-1 prices...

No need to go the one-piece G10 route. It's great just the way it is, just need some steel that I don't have to worry about keeping oiled all the time. Again, the exact same setup except with CTS-20P, M390, Elmax, CPM 154CM, or even S35VN would sell out within an hour of getting listed.

IMHO of course.

edit - oooooooo - looks like Kershaw may have beat them to it with the new ZT Hinderer Flipper that's coming out. It's got a 3.75" Elmax blade. (just read it on another forum). Still, I'd think I'd prefer to have it in a Ti/G10 Military with the higher flag grind. It's the perfect slicing profile for me.

Holy Moly! I just found a thread about that ZT Hinderer Flipper, and I’m in LOVE! It’s sort of got that Double Gunner Grip thing going on, with the G-10 / Ti Framelock and the Flipper! I always wanted a flipper since my Kershaw Skyline (sold it because it was too small) and I am going to HAVE TO GET ONE OF THOSE! Whoa!

Image

It’s got the Hinderer and everything! Look how low that low rider (FOUR WAY) clip is going to let it ride in the pocket! This may be the perfect knife.

Yeah, I've had my eye on that for a while. I think eventually, that will become my only non Spyderco folder.
