I read in the other place that someone bought a manix 2 and it came in a blister pack. Does this mean that there's a chance that knives we buy online will come in a blister pack?

I think it has to do more with the retailer who orders them. I have a vague memory of a some being in blister packs. I have also seen some Benchmade's, CRKT, and others sold this way.
I know it was popular for base exchanges to sell them that way (military).
It is not a great option for most internet/mail order sellers as they take up a pretty good sized box that way.
I think the "box" will always remain a bit more popular.

I hate blister packs with a passion. I would hate knives in blister packs more.

Like you, I worry blister packs will not become a trend.
I only got one spydie in a blister pack and it was a SS delica. It was a real PITA to open. Needed a really sharp and small knife just the puncture the plastic enough not to go through and hit the knife.
Also, like others mentioned I like having boxes and these blisters do not store well.

I think some runs depending on where bought. Correct me if I'm wrong but even Natives bought during the Walmart days came in boxes unless bought at Walmart.
Also, I think the Save and Serve Natives are blister packed but that's less collector oriented than a gift to users. I could care less if it impacts th value on a knife that shouldn't be sold

I've only seen :spyder: s packaged in blister packs at military exchanges, military clothing stores, and retail stores that don't have the staff or space to have dedicated knife displays.
The dedicated sporting good stores I've been in that specialize in guns and/or knives have their :spyder: s (as well as other brands of knives) in boxes so that you can handle the item to see if you really like and want it, as well as check it out for fit, finish, and function.
So far, all of the :spyder: s I've ordered online have arrived in boxes. The only Spyderco item I ordered online that came in a blister pack was the Spyderco Sharpmaker, and I believe that was because the instruction DVD featuring Sal came with it.

I would have to agree when it comes to knives and blister packs it mainly seems to be walk in retail stores. They want to be able to hang them on the shelf without them walking off. As stated above they are also popular on military bases. I have seen numerous makes and models of knives there in blister packs. I don't see it catching on though, there will always be boxes, especially places were you can go and the knives are kept behind the counter and you can talk to a knowledgeable person about them.
I also find it ironic to buy a knife trapped in a blister pack where you need a knife to get it out. lol
