Ffg Delica wear

#1

Post by I_like_sharp_things »

I am a new member here and am a huge fan of Spyderco. I got my first Spyderco knife (blue ffg delica) a month or 2 ago. Within the first couple of openings some scratches began to show on the blade near the pivot. I assumed this was normal wear until I received my Tenacious and it hasn't happened at all yet. Are the rings on the blade of the Delica normal and if they aren't what can I do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Chuck_roxas45: It definitely cuts great and is definitely my favorite knife. I just thought it was odd that this knife did this and the "cheaper" model didn't.
Knife nut404: I will try that when I pick up some torx bits tomorrow.

It isn't about cost, it's about construction. My carbon fiber ZDP-189 Caly 3 cost quite a bit more than a Delica and the very first time it opened it made scratches on the blade. That's just how it is. It has to do with the liner construction and in my case the 420J2 steel on the outside of the blade being very easy to scratch.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you use it, it will get some character marks.

The circular scratches near the pivot area on my blue stretch makes the knife cut way better. ;)

You will notice every little mark on it for awhile, maybe even feel bad about it. Just because it's your "baby".

Don't worry, though, you'll get over once you start using it and then you will love it even more.
