Esee rc-6
I just picked up an ESEE RC-6, and its amazing! I was surprised that fresh out of the box it was as sharp as any spyderco I've owned. Looks like I found my second favorite knife company
Seriously though if you are looking for a great camping/outdoors fixed blade I would recomend the ESEE RC-6 any day. And the sheath is good, and they have a few upgrade options. I got it for $138 shipped with the added sheath pouch.

:spyder:My mind is the sharpest weapon I have, my spyderco is the second!;)
Welcome to the ESEE clan. I got a Esee-4 in desert tan and it is great for me. The six is longer with the same width so you know what I mean. The kydex is great, if you want to carry inverted (with a six?) read the sheath manual about where to put the screws so as not to leave an expensive souvenir on the trail. The steel 1095 is great. I use carbon steel kitchen knives which take a great edge so having the ESEE I knew what I was in for... nothing, no rust the protective layer of paint is durable and the edge has held up well. I agree with your line of a great camping knife, that is the reason I bought mine. Prices aren't bad either on these ones. The Hest 3 inch fixed draws my attention and I am thinking about picking up one since they are discontinued. Thanks for your post.

Esee is making some great knives....I have a Rat3, Rat5 and Little Bird...when Randall Adventure was working in collab with Ontario Knives. The wife carries a Rat3 and a Ronin for self-protection and is really happy with her Rat3. Her's is in 1095 CE and Mine is in D2 PE. The knives are pretty amazing and indestructible at the same time.....Enjoy your Esee!....Doc :D

Totally agree with you EDCTAC. I have a 4 in desert tan and a green Izula. Both are great. The 4 has gone through a lot of wood and it worked very well. Factory edge was excellent. My favorite knife for the woods.
The have considerably thicker edges than a typical Spyderco, but cutting performance was still excellent. The thicker blade and edge is well suited to batoning wood. I read that they sharpen at 40 degrees; it recently came time for me to sharpen my 4 and it was quite easy despite the fairly thick edge. I was pleasantly surprised. I used diamond stones first before the sharpmaker, but I believe the edge was near 40 degrees and very well ground/uniform. 1095 is a great steel that is easy to sharpen. Very well suited to the ESEE line.
The Izula is also an excellent knife. I think I might prefer a thinner blade on a knife this size personally, but it certainly is confidence inspiring to have such a sturdy small blade. I have used this one quite a bit in the woods and on cardboard, etc.
The coatings have help up pretty well on both of mine also, after going through a lot of wood and cardboard.
Great knives!

I have been very impressed with ESEE's offerings. Some might say they are a little on the expensive side, but one thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet is the warranty.
This is a lifetime no-questions-asked warranty. If the knife breaks for ANY reason they will replace it. Now, I don't use this as a reason to abuse the knife (this only drives the price up in the long run anyways) but when I am thinking about wailing on my expensive new knife it's nice to know that if something were to happen the manufacturer has my back.
