Combo edge Ladybug

Any chance of a combo edge Ladybug 3 like the original Ladybug? 50/50 serrations are my favorite, and such a staple of the original Ladybug, I'm suprised there hasn't been a combo edge Ladybug 3 yet. Also any chance of a PE Ladybug Hawkbill?

you are really the exception from what I've seen. Most people I know feel that combo-edges are the worst of both worlds - not enough serrations to really be useful plus you get the pain in the neck sharpening of a serrated blade.

Now, on a longer blade, like the military, combo edge might make sense. But on the ladybug? For a long time I used Cold Steel's Tuff Lite keychain folders simply because they came in plane edge and the ladybug only came in combo edge. Once Spyderco began offering plain edge ladybugs and jesters, I made the switch back, though I can see the appeal of a fully serrated keychain knife. I cried that the baby Goddard didn't come in plain edge -- what a beautiful keychain knife to be ruined by a combo edge?

Anyway, I hope Spyderco offers the option you want, but you might find you really enjoy either plane or fully serrated edges better.

I would be in on one if available. In general while a fan of CE I do prefer them on larger knives (Stretch to Millie). Currently I have both plain and serrated ladybugs and don't find much difference for the type of use they get. Serrated maintain an edge longer in my experience so that is a plus.

CE's take only a small amount of extra effort to keep sharp. With a SharpMaker no one should have any problem keeping serrated or combo edges sharp and I am by no means an expert at sharpening.

I love the combo edges on my Endura and Delica, but IMO the Ladybug is really too small for that to work well.

By my measurements, the Ladybug 3 SE version gives you 10mm of plain edge. My old Ladybug in CE has 20mm of plain edge. To me, it seems like the plain cutting edge on both is already small enough to make little real difference. I find the SE on my keychain does just about anything I need it to. Just my 2 cents.

No-one has yet made the obvious recommendation: Get one of each, they are small enough that its not a problem to keep on your keychain and you'll have the right tool for the job every time :)

Remember it is not the size of the dog but the bite and Ladybug does carry a big bite.

I agree. A half serrated ladybug is still needed, at least a black one. We also need a new rescue ladybug. Yellow H-1 would be really nice. Take care.

This may not be the solution you're looking for, but if you're really into combo blades and want a combo-bladed keychain knife, why not try the Baby Goddard? I bought the original for my brother and he loves it. Very nice little knife - an upgrade, really, from the standard ladybug as it has nicer micarta scales and a slightly longer blade - and the Baby Goddard ONLY comes in combo blade. Best of all, you can pick the sprint runs up fairly cheap on plenty of Websites in both colors of micarta.

Just a thought.

Baby Goddard is an awesome knife.

I want a plain edge one so bad even asked the Goddards about it yrs ago.
