The Lucane by Jerome 'Torpen' Hovaere - A Spyderhole licenced prototype

This is a prototype made by a young French knifemaker named Jerome Hovaere a.k.a. Torpen who lived in the far western end of Britanny.
Mine is mounted with a 02 tool steel blade and G10 handles and an upgrade lock (as he positionned the release further on the handle, like on the Chinook)
Torpen had received his licence to use the Spyderhole last fall and I'm really found of the way he used it !

What do you think about it ?

(I will carry the Lucane with me at the Amsterdam Minimeet as I'm "commitionned" by Jérome to picture Sal with his baby and those who will attempt it will have the opportunity to try it... :) )

That is beautifully finished - a really nice piece of work. It looks a hefty blade with a wide pocket foot-print but I am sure it would be a good, hard worker :)
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades :)

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Thank you Sal for giving inspirations to young knifemakers.
Jerome is officially licensed and really proud to be able to use the Spyderhole on his creations ! (He even wrote it big on the wall in his workshop !)
You are going to make his day just by knowing you will look at his work. :)

See you in 4 days !

Cheers

Love the wharncliffe style blade, and that parkerised looking blade against the aluminum handle is stunning

I have forgotten the specs:

Length: 203mm (with clip)
Blade length: 90mm
Once closed: 110mm
Blade thickness: 3,4 mm
Handle thickness: 16mm

Weight: 140 grammes

The steel on this proto is 90MCV8 which another name for O2.

Unlike the Rock Lobster, this handle looks like it would work for me.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Well 3 and a half is nearly 4...a full 4 would be really great though as it looks like a pretty heavy duty knife overall.

But I do like the look and specs.
