huge Spyderco sale

#1

Post by LDB »

I hope this is ok to post. I have no connection to this, just happened to see it and thought I'd pass it on in case anyone was in the mood for some serious buying. On the Houston Craigslist a guy is selling a collection of 84 Spyderco knives. He lists them with original msrp and notes many are discontinued so perhaps more of a collector interest now. Anyway, it looks like a very cool collection and if I had piles of unused cash I'd probably get it for myself. If this isn't supposed to be done, my apologies.

I am going to bet it crosses the "no selling/trading" line. :)

Hey man thanks for sharing! We sort of have a selling/trading section that most of us go to that isn't coordinated with Spyderco.

http://www.knife-bst.com/bst/

Check it out and perhaps post this in the "hot deals" section.

Careful with sharing outside links here though.

Prices are really high on that list. :(

Besides that looks like deal spotting.

think he just posted msrp, if he paid that much its his bad, i hope he really paid about half of that, still 2800 for everything aint bad as id try to nickel and dime him down.

id want pics of them first though too.

cool find & heads up but im sure this will be deleted soon.

LOL @ $11k for a bunch of knives. I love'em but c'mon that's insane. It's a good thing 1) i don't buy at MSRP and 2) i don't keep a running total on what i've spent on knives or i might have trouble sleeping.

Might be a good deal for someone in Houston, or willing to travel there to inspect the knives and take delivery in person. Might be a good way to get scammed out of $2800 otherwise.

Anybody close want to check it out, just to see if he is for real?

Leaning toward scam, If I had that many to sell, I'd go to the 'Bay instead of dumping them on CL.

If you go to take a look you might want to bring another person and a gun along with the $2,800.

A minister from Atlanta drove to our area to pickup some Masters Golf Tournament tickets his buddies bought. It was not a sale, it was a robbery.

"A man who authorities say lured a Cobb County minister to Augusta last week with the promise of eight Masters Tournament tickets, then robbed him of $14,400 at gunpoint, was arrested and charged Saturday with armed robbery.

Alligood, an associate minister at Christ's Church at Cobb in Kennesaw, Ga., told The Augusta Chronicle he was helping out friends who run a ticket business when he agreed to drive to Augusta to trade $14,400 in cash for eight Masters badges." (The Augusta Chronicle)

BTW, those tickets have a face value of $200 so MSRP isn't always relevant.

I'm from Houston but away till the end of the month. If I could afford to tie up the money I'd get them and keep a handful or two and sell the rest to recover the money and wind up with a dozen or so knives at no cost. I just can't do it though.

Yeah, just to quickly average that out on his "estimate"...

He said there are 80 knives that he's selling for $2800, but they're "worth" $11k

Thats an average price of $137 PER KNIFE (think about all the ladybugs and kiwis, etc). Not even NIB would they be worth that much. I agree, they are severely overpriced. $200 for a kiwi? Yeah, i'll go buy a new one for a fourth of the price.

did anybody actually read the whole add ?

he claims hes paid these prices but is selling them all for 2800, if you do the math that equals 33 dollars for each knife. good deal if you have the money you could triple that probably on ebay.

i would buy them for sure if i had the funds. then start all your bids at 33 bucks each.

Yeah i wasn't knocking his asking price...i'm sure if you bought all those at MSRP you'd spend 11k, i'm just saying it would be crazy to throw down 11k on knives but i guess it's not unrealistic. They add up quick.

my idea:
i'll wait and wait and wait till no one wants or can put up almost 3g's (ins,s/h etc) then have me and a few friends bombard him with individual request on cheap knives and offer more than then hit him up on straight deals on another 6. we'll break him! I WANT THAT DP DALLARA FOR MY OTHER 2
