Depends on if you want a pen or a knife.

I have what is probably a dumb question. I've had several of the black baliyos for a while now and play with them constantly.

I've never handled one of the color ones - and wondered what made them more than twice the price of the black and grey ones.

Again, this is probably a dumb question... but I can't figure it out...

The more expensive ones are made in the USA and contain pressurized Fisher Space Pen inserts I believe.

well like everything else, money is quality. i would say that the major difference is that the more expensive baliyos have the fisher space pen insert. ive also heard that different plastic is used and that the weights are brass, but i just like it for the colors. i would take it 2 school so the less it looks like a bali, the better. no question is a dumb one

The USA ones don't break like the chinese ones. Lots of people told us how their chinese ones broke 10 minutes after getting them in the mail. My USA RWB Baliyo has been going strong for 2 years and 4 months now after countless falls on tile and cement. I did happen to snag and break one of the clips a couple weeks ago, though :(

Ok you have 30$, what do YOU want? :p
Do you want another knife to put on your keychain that you can carry with your regular EDC knife? Do you really need a smaller knife to use? Especially since you'll be having another knife in your pocket anyway. If yes, get the LBK.
I have one and it's very nice to have if you're in an non-knife-friendly environment.

Do you want a fun pen that you can twirl and flip around wherever and whenever? Do you wanna learn neat tricks and improve your finger dexterity? Do you wanna impress friends and family with your awesome tricks? If yes, get the Baliyo.
I have 2 and flip them every now and then wherever I go, at home, at a friends place, on a walk, at the store, on campus...
Oh and It also write in extreme hot and cold, underwater, in zero gravity and in god knows what position!
