LOL Doc :)

Good luck with it all, hope you don't freeze your brass monkeys off and that your home is structurally sound and watertight.

In Sydney we had 33 degrees C yesterday for Xmas, today is a much more manageable mid 20's.

Stay safe

It snowed here today in Georgia. If I heard the news guy correctly, it's the first time it's snowed here on Christmas Day since the late 1800s. It was kind of cool.

That same storm gave us about 2 1/2 feet on Tuesday here in Utah. It wasn't too much fun shoveling, but it did give us a relatively white Christmas.

yep I'm a cry baby...after nursing my broken ribs to almost 90% better now...the thought of tossing 16" of wet snow is not exciting....But I do have my fresh supply of Batteries, Candles, Eggs and Milk....I never really understood the Eggs and Milk thingy...Like the worlds population of cows and chickens might freeze to death during the storm to create a shortage....I bought Milk and I don't even drink Milk....I guess I got all caught up in the supermarket we all gonna die frenzy (specially if you don't have milk)....hmmm let's see who can expire first you or the milk  ....Doc :D
Oh...and I bought a years supply of Beef Jerky....just in case I get buried alive.......and Ros....your 100 inches is the equivalent to our 16"....the only difference is you are more used to it and have snow shoes, skis, dog sleds, tire chains, snow mobiles and crap like that....we have birkenstock sandals and sneakers.... :)

i can see the snow removal issue you have-thats a legit whine-lol

i also dont understand why people hoard when a small ,minor size storm is coming-its not like it will be 10-12 weeks till its plowed-

i also have none of these-snow chains, dog sled(i do have 3 dogs with a combined weight of over 300#)snow shoes, ski's, snowmobiles and crap like that-lol

Try not to hurt your ribs any more Doc. Don't have any of the stuff on your list, but I do have 4WD with **** good tires, good boots, and a couple trekking poles. Not sure what the logic is for clearing the shelves of bread and milk, but it's been going on since I was a kid.

This thread made me check our local forecast when I first read it. Seems like we may be getting between 5" to 8" starting tonight and into tomorrow. Checked the cupboards and fridge and ran out for "a few things". Well, not really. It was all stuff I had planned on buying either today or tomorrow, just decided today was the wiser choice.

Problem on LI, at least when I lived there, was that the towns could never justify having enough snow removal equipment to handle those "once every five years" major storms.

I'd estimate we wound up getting somewhere around a foot here. Hard to be sure though, the wind was 30mph and higher most of the time it was snowing. There are spots where I can see the grass, and others where the drifts are waist deep and higher. Can't complain too loudly, EGB definitely got off easy compared to some towns around here.

Hope Doc didn't hurt his ribs shoveling, from what I read, his part of LI got hit pretty hard.

Paul looks like you got more snow than we did...yep we did have some three foot drifts but the 60 MPH winds seemed to blow most of it into corners, like I didn't have any snow on my cars and basically spent about 15 minutes shoveling...The ribs are OK thanks for being worried bout me, but I think it could have been much worse...It was kinda of funny throughout the storm I kept saying where's the storm though as it didn't look like it was sticking...it was obvious that it just kept snowing like forever...Doc :D

You guys don't understand the bread, milk & eggs thing?? Boy! you're outta touch! I'll tell you why they disappear from the shelves so fast in a 'situation', especially one like a blizzard!
