They forgot to tap some holes for the clip in the right-hand tip-up carry position. When they received it they decided to just send a brand new knife instead of drilling the missing holes.Flash o matic7 wrote:Thats good news, thanks for the info! If you don't mind me asking what was wrong with your para 2?
I'm sure the original knife will end up in next year's seconds sale and somebody who doesn't care about the missing holes will score a great deal.

If I'm not mistaken, the Para2's with the missing holes were G-10 not carbon fiber. So it wouldn't be a carbon fiber drilling issue.JNewell wrote:Probably because, as discussed in one of the unfortunate food fights over the Lums recentlyCF can be hard to drill without leaving some rough fibers and/or having chipping around the holes. Waiting is a pain but Spyderco did the right thing

They do have more at the SFO so they will become more available here on the street

Not to mention that it sounds like the scales and steel liners were probably both drilled, and the issue was that one or more of the RH/TU holes in the steel liner were not tapped (threaded).Jay_Ev wrote:If I'm not mistaken, the Para2's with the missing holes were G-10 not carbon fiber. Maybe it's just me but I don't think I recall seeing folks have such a hard time receiving a regular production model as this one. Sure glad I snagged mine when I did. To those waiting....it's worth it. Now, if I could ever get my CF from KC all would be good.

In my case they even forgot to drill the liners and G10. There were no holes whatsoever! Very strange. The Deacon wrote:Not to mention that it sounds like the scales and steel liners were probably both drilled, and the issue was that one or more of the RH/TU holes in the steel liner were not tapped (threaded).

That is definitely strange. I have a few knives where one or more of the holes in clip mounting positions other than the the one favored by the factory are not tapped, but never saw one with the holes missing.HistoricalMan wrote:In my case they even forgot to drill the liners and G10. I just got an email today that mine shipped out but I checked and they list it as "pre-order" still so I'm guessing they didn't have enough after shipping out all the orders they already had.
Just order it somewhere if you want one and wait. That's what I did. I waited a long time but now it's on it's way. :)
