Revisiting the Swick2

#1

Post by dbcad »

I've been preoccupied with the truncated MT-07 for the past few weeks, and the Swick rested in my knife drawer for a while. I took it out again yesterday and found myself using it the entire weekend. I am so lucky to have such a fine knife :D

It was used fairly frequently previously, travels in a pocket of my lunchbox to work, so the first thing was refurbishing the edge. 5-10 minutes with the Sharpmaker and it is insanely sharp once again :D Took apart a good sized cardboard box with ease and comfort. S30V has a mixed reputation, but I find it to be quite nice, consistent and easy to sharpen.

The grips (scales, handles) that Zach put on it are what really make it what it is, a super friendly, comfortable, and good looking blade to use. The negative blade angle coupled with the superb grips and finger hole knock it out of the park :D :D I geuss you can tell I like the knife :o

I don't buy knives for SD. The Swick for me is a terrific general purpose user, half :spyder: , half Zach collaboration. I am truly lucky to posess a one of a kind knife like this. Terrific user and looker all in one :D

Any other user Swicks out there? It'd be neat to see how others have interpreted this blank.

I've got the original Swick and love it. I didn't wrap it or put scales on it because I wear it as a neck knife when running and want a super thin package. I do have to wipe it down after runs, though, or it starts to get rust spots. The sharp tip is perfect for digging out splinters and cactus spines. I missed getting the Swick 2. I'd have grabbed one if I'd been ordering something else while they were available, but there was a Mule drought around then ...

The Swick-series has got be one of Spyderco's kewlest, and most usefull, sprint run lines. Since the Swick line seems confined to "sprint run ONLY" status, I am still hoping to see a sprint of resuce Swicks at some point:

Even if not in H-1, it would still be pretty nice to have.

take care -d.
