The Para 2 is actually C81GP2 if I'm not mistaken, while the original para was C81GP.

However, the picture you posted there is definitely a standard Paramilitary 2 from what I can see. It has the regular clip and handle shape for the Para 2, different from the C81GP Para 1 which had a bigger, black clip like on the Military and a different handle design.

Maybe the spyderco.com picture you're looking at is the original Para?

In you first post the top pic is a para 2 and the bottom pic is a first gen para.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

ok, I think the first gen looked nicer. but maybe the new is more practical for an edc since it looks slimmer. But improved ergonomics? doesnt look like it..

Here's Spyderco's official picture of the Para 2

Image

and the link to the product page.

I think you may need to FEEL the (improved) ergonomics. It is sometimes difficult to catch them by looking at a picture.

Ok, here's the big differences between first gen Para-Mili and the new Gen 2.

Tip down only carry on Gen 1.
Gen 2 clip has 4 positions available for either tip up or tip down or on left or right side of knife.

Gen 2 contoured the blade so that the corner of the blade when closed does not stick out.

Gen 2 updated the locking mechanism a bit too.

Gen 2 blade itself was lengthened from 3 3/32 inches to 3 7/16 inches.

Gen 2 has bigger lanyard hole.

Gen 2 clip position is closer to the end of the handle for "deeper" pocket carry.

Hope this helps.

Isn't the para 2 made from 3mm blade stock compared to 4mm on the para 1?
