Para-Military 1.5

#1

Post by mrjefe2u »

Well, I got a little tired of watching my hometown college football team get beat so I took out my modicum of angst on my new Para Military that I bought at the gun show a few weeks ago.

I disassembled  , cleaned, oiled and reassembled it. The blade is much straighter. The detent is still very weak like it was when I bought it.

I keep this Para with digi-camo in my pickup in an easy spot for me or the little woman to reach in the "unlikely event of a water landing".

Now with a new found zeal to modify and knowing that I am not going to ever send it in for future repairs, I will probably make two more mods during future games:

1. Take that pointy corner off the butt of the blade.

2. Round off the corner of the handle next to the little finger.
Ergonomics is getting in touch with your feelings. (sorry 'bout that)
To me, I have always felt that the Para Mili felt better when chocked down over a full handle grip. (med/lrg hands). This should correct that.
Ah, the Para 1.5. I'll alert the media.

And if I fail in this attempt, I'll just have to buy the Para-Military 2.

Or maybe the Military

Why limit your options?

Perhaps you should buy the PM2 AND the Mil regardless of how this one turns out?

The mods you speak of are fairly low risk mods as long as you only round off the point and do not start taking out a lot of metal...just take a look at what engages where and work slow. The re-shaping of the G-10 is quite easy, and others have made similar mods for similar reasons. Just take some precautions to avoid breathing in the G-10 dust (it is bad stuff).

Do not forget the "after" photos!
Thanks,

Be REALLY careful about how much you take off--knocking the corner down so it's not sharp is probably OK, but the tang where you plan to grind must be able to sit fully on the stop pin.
