Problem with buying a used Urban

#1

Post by niimo »

First, this is not a hit on Amazon, they are great. This is just one experience I had with buying used off their warehouse.

I sure thought I scored, oh boy! Found a used Urban (the orange g10 with Wharncliff blade) on Amazon Warehouse deals for $55 wow! It said "very good" condition with some cosmetic ware. Hmm.. not quite. It turns out the clip was non-functional, for some reason it did not fit right and could be pulled out about .25-.5 inch with no resistance. That ain't gonna work. PLUS, the clip screws were completely stripped. Argh!

Alas, I could not bring myself to return it since everything else about it was perfect. So I drilled out the clip screws which took about 10 minutes. I called SFO and ordered up a new pocket clip kit for the Urban and threw in a few 2011 wallcalenders while I was at it! heheh

Now I anxiously await the mail man so I can take the Urban out to play.

No doubt Amazon has some awesome deals, and the free shipping? Hard for me to resist. It's a real incentive for us in Hawaii. But there certainly are some disadvantages. On a positive note, the SFO staff was very friendly and helpful, thanks guys!

Cool story - I still think that was a good deal, even with the broken clip :D

Got any photos - before & after? :D

I would like to see the photos too. Interesting story, sometimes you just don't know what you are going to get when you buy through the internets :D
