New dragonfly?

#1

Post by Jesting Devil »

Ive seen a couple mentions of the new, redesigned frn dragonfly thats coming soon and im just wondering if anyone has any idea on when we could expect it to be available?

I only ask because I'd really like a dragonfly as a sheeple friendly edc to go with my salt 1. If the new one is out by the end of the year, I'll just wait but if it might be a while ill just get one now and the new one later! :D

This was a post made by Sal in August..

"Re: The Spyderco Dragonfly Appreciation Society

The G-10 version was a run to test the new clip. We also did a forum survey for a while do determine the config of the new FRN version . The new FRN version will have the same pattern as the older version. We are using the deep pocket L/R wire clip that is used on the G-10 version. Texture will be like the Endura/Delica "bi-directional" texturing. One piece FRN (no liner) has it at about the same weight as the older version. You can change or remove the clip.

Colors will probably be added onced we find out what our customers want. We are also going to make a BRG ZDP version and an H1 version.

The molds are finished and we've approved of prototypes so I would guess 2-3 months out.

I just ordered a stainless Dragonfly.I got it for the same price as the serrated FRN handle Dragonflys. It seems odd to me most Dragonfly FRN are serrated ? I prefer FRN usually but I believe the stainless is stronger. Not trying to hijack this thread but has anyone ever put the Decal grip material on a stainless Spydie? Did it work good?

Just got my first PE Dragonfly FRN. Love it, but hate the clip. It hangs out in the bottom of my pocket, which if fine for now. I'll be buying a few of the new ones when they come out. Especially if they offer an orange FRN.

I had just posted a thread asking this exact same thing not but 2 minutes ago!!! - then saw this one and deleted it.

Awsome news, burntrice and thanks. I've been waiting for this one for too long now. :D

I'm really crossing my fingers for some different colors but I'll take whatever they release.

Sal has said before that H1 can't be done in FFG. So will the H1 D'fly be hollow ground?
