Spyderco MUST be Listening

#1

I've complained about it before. The red scuff that gets on the USA made knives.

Well, I came home to a box of the Manix XHP and they were in baggies just like the knives you get when they are made overseas.

A big thank you to Spyderco for listening to the crowd!

i hate when one comes with and one comes without. i just dont get it. there is no science to it. frn rattles around and thats fine but when black g10 moves in the box it gets scuffed up bad! takes forever to clean.

by the way:
black g10.... they have diff kinds right? like black g10 chokwe g10 material is soft, almost rubbery. and then a chinook 3 black g10 is hard and rough. like its squeezed compact where as other g10 is softer and can "push" in a litlle.
whats up with that?

I think that the G10 thing has to do with where the knife comes from. Manix2 G10 is different from D'fly G10 which is different from Tenacious G10. The G10 that the Japanese makers use is probably sourced from Japan, just like the steel is. Same with China.

All US knives in bags would be nice. My green Manix 2 and digicam Para still have red scuffs on them.

+1
I have noticed that the locations they are made in have the same style g10. USA= para, manix, dodo and they have grippy rough g10 while my seki models like the captain, civilian, persistence etc have a "shinier" slicker feel to the g10

I personally prefer coarser G-10 texturing, like on my Chinook III. It just feels so friggin' good in hand, and it fits snuggly in the back-pocket of my Levis.

I must confess I have never experienced a red scuff on any of mine, but a nice baggie is just a classy touch and I would support it.

Oh, and now that you mention it, my Para 2 came in a baggie too.

Can someone please post a pic of the "red scuff" I have not experienced it yet and would be interested to see what it looks like. Does it come from the box top?

The bags are very nice... Wish there was a rhyme to the reason on deciding which ones come in bags and which ones don't

Let's say that a plastic bag is the bare minimum to ship a knife in. I am glad they finally listened.

Just a think piece of plastic bag. No bubble wrap. This was on the second round of Green Manix 2.
