G-10 Poliwog meets Tom Krein

#1

Post by hiredgun »

I don't recall seeing a G-10 Poliwog that has been Krein'd here on the Spyderco Forums, so I thought I would share mine with all of you. Tom did a great job, of course, and the turnaround was fast--took me by surprise when my little girl brought the mail in yesterday. Not the best pics, but you get the idea. Now I think I have the perfect little folder...

hey Hiredgun,

Beautiful. Thanx for sharing.

It's not possible for us to make all of the models in all of the grinds desired. We're just too small of a company to do that.

We are fortunate to have Tom around to spread his magic on personal preferences.

And no Krein re-grind stamp either. I always wondered if this was optional with Tom's work as all the others I've seen done by him have it.

A very nice knife made even nicer. Thx for sharing.

Hey everyone, thanks! I went out to dinner with the kids this evening (my wife is out of town visting a brother and sister-in-law who just had a baby) so the kids twisted my arm to eat out. Hey, I can cook, but it is so much easier sometimes to go out. Anyway, I was showing off the Poliwog to the kids while waiting for our dinner and my son asked me to do the "paper trick". Holy smokes! This little guy can shave paper like no other knife I own. Definitely love it even more now.

I was too full for dessert and came home to get a different kind of treat--Sal responding to my thread. Cool!

Yeah, I miss the bug :spyder: too. Knowing it was going to be ground away, I opted with Tom to forgo his stamp as well. I figure I brag enough about his work that, at least on this knife, no stamp this time around. Good night everyone, gotta clean up the house a little before the boss gets back tomorrow. :p

I like that you guys are open enough to appreciate other people modifying your products. I really respect that. Most people/companies would be pissed off if someone tried to improve upon their work.

I love it. If Spyderco could cater to AFI's only i suspect a lot of their edges would come a lot thinner. I love the regrind, and I too appreciate that Sal is open enough to like modifications to his products.

Question, does a regrind void the warranty to things besides the tip or edge, like the lock or handle etc?

Heresy! Leave the Poliwog alone. I try to keep my knives as far away from Mr. Krein as possible.

That thing is a beast. I've wanted to do that for a while. I'd have opted for the Krein doggy stamp as I love that thing!
