Best day ever!

#1

Post by SpydieZ »

So I have been looking at the chokwe for a while now and I was extremly attracted to the design and looks of the blade. So I took a little trip down to the SFO! I got my chokwe and was looking at the case with the discounted blades and I saw a plain edged caly 3 g10... Needless to say after I recovered from my stroke I headed out the door a happy camper! But to top it all off I see a familar face talking to the receptionist. Immediately it came to me Michael janich! It wad amazing just exchanging a few words with him, he seems like a very down to earth guy and as we all know a very skilled knife designer. So I got my Grail, met my hero and had the best say ever :) )

Congrats!

Sounds like a great day indeed.

I get all excited when I visit my nearest knife store (Grand Prairie Knives).

I can only imagine what it would be like to visit the SFO.

Seven,

Grand Prairie Knives might be within driving distance depending on how far south you are.

It's in Troy Illinois right off of Interstate 55 near St. Louis.

It's an 85 mile drive for me.

What you see on their website is what they have in the store. Lots of Spydies and plenty of other brands. They have nothing but knives and knife accessories.

Great place to visit if you get the chance.

That's really cool, got the knife and met the man. I had a day somewhat like that, I had a pair of boots made, and met the man who made them, had a nice talk over a cup of coffee, pretty cool.
learning it the hard way...

You are very lucky  . There isn't a knife store within hundreds of miles where I am. You would think there would be plenty of knife stores around one of America's biggest cities. I would love to experience actually going into a knife shop to handle and fondle knives one of these days.

I've visited the SFO store a couple times on my trips to Colorado. It's a great place to shop and certainly a must see for any Spyderco afficianado! Glad you had such a good experience!

You're very lucky my friend. You would think living close to Dallas that there would be several choices but if they are around, I sure don't know of any. There is a army navy store in Richardson but they price their Spyderco knives close to Spyderco web site prices.

I am heading to the SFO in several weeks. I need to make a list of everything I want to look at. Last time I walked out too quickly and realized I still had a bunch of questions.

I know right.Texans love their knives and guns.....yet very few knife shops? If you go to some gun shows you can find some older spydies for some very inflated prices. This seems to be the case for about everything at gun shows though.

SpydieZ Congrats! Glad you had fun.I must make a Trip up there some time myself.

I know you would think so wouldn't you. This state is all about guns and knives but you can't throw a stick and hit anything with a blade that isn't a overinflated price on a Smith and Wesson or Coleman knife.

I know that Jess with SpydieGuys is in Mansfield (I think) but I'm not making that drive either.
