My trip to SFO

#1

Post by Agent_Ohm »

7/31/2010

I was in town for a get together with family members:

http://www.texasjack.org/TJ/2010_Roundup.html

Picked up a blue frn ukpk for myself, a red one for my buddy quattrokid73 and a blue one for his brother. Awesome place to visit and had a lot of fund handling knives that I would never be able to see in person. I would say that if you live within 200 miles you should make the drive; Golden is an amazing place with amazing food and plenty of sights to see. This was my second time in Colorado and I can't wait to go back (in fact I'm looking for jobs there as we speak :D )

p.s. Thanx much to Cougar337 for helping me fill in some details about my trip

This man, impersonating Buffalo Bill, memorized TJ's eulogy and recited it perfectly. Amazing.

Thanks for sharing your photos, looks like a great time. Good thing I wasn't there visiting Spyderco or you may have seen some fool peeling in the parking lot and sliding in sideways to a parking spot with the car door open before the vehicle is even stopped and bolting up the steps like a grown man on his way to Wally World.

For reference, the big structure on the right is the Coors brewery, just before that is downtown Golden. SFO is I believe in the NW corner of the picture above that housing development.

Dan,
Very nice pictures. Thank you. Quite interesting Natives, I never knew about existence of bolstered Native. Also there is one Native below it. Can you recall what is handle material? Looks nice.
Are you on any of the pictures? How often do you go for this trip?
Thank you again.

Righteous Pix, B.B. -- so glad you could visit my 'stompin' grounds' up here!

Golden is a virtual enchanted land, I was going to post pix but having never gotten around to it, I'm glad that you were able to -- you took better pix than what minimalist images I had in mind -- plus it's great to 'see from a Visitor's Eyes' how striking an impact the town imparts -- I'm very spoiled and fortunate to live here, and almost take what you have in your pix for granted...Almost!! :D

Every time I visit SFO I have a great experience and spend a good amount of time interacting and 'taking it all in'.

Gail is just plain Wonderful, kind, caring, and enthusiastically proud of the Company -- sharing so much of Spyderco's Legendary Majesty and even taking out time from her schedule in giving me the 'grand tour' when last I was there.

Meeting with Sal in person and being able to spend time conversing and getting answers to so many questions I had from him was extremely special on my account -- Seeing Eric and all of the Wares there, plus the fact that SFO is 'half store/showroom and half museum' Literally; ...these are Fabulous Folks, and I recommend to All to make at least one 'pilgrimage' to this 'Mecca of The Sharp'. ;) ;)

The experiences had there are not done justice in mere print and images (don't get me wrong here; these in this thread are Great) ...but you have to actually be there in person to soak up all the magic first hand ...there's Sooo Much More than meets the eye!!

Sal, Gail, Eric & Co -- you guys are the Greatest -- see y'all again real soon.

SpyderLovinglyYours;

Thanks for the sharing and inspiration! I want to go to two places before I die--Spyderco in Golden, CO and Case in Bradford, PA. Some day the planets and stars will align...
You can't display a toad in a fine restaurant like this! Why, the good folks here would go right off the feed!

Roundups are held every two years each in a different location relating to Texas Jack. This was my first and the next is in VA i believe. Also I will post a higher resolution picture of the natives in a bit.
