What do you carry to work?

#1

Post by Seanski »

Hey Guys, Gals,

I just picked up a serrated Native 3 (new) for a ridiculous price and am
going to be using it in the Restaurant for the next month or two. For
the last year I have used my Pacific Salt exclusively and decided to
change it around for a bit and was using a Kershaw Skyline.
I cut alot of cardboard boxes open to access goods and then flatten
a number of boxes for recycling so my knives along with food prep get
used quite a bit during an average day on the job.
I'm quite looking forward to putting my first Native 3 to task on site. :)

So which Spydies are you folks taking to work with you on a regular
basis?
Use your blades in the kitchen, it's great bonding time!

I carry a FRN handled 4th generation SE Endura.I cut cardboard boxes and poly/teflon tubing, plastic bags, paper bags cable ties and sometimes my lunch with it.I really like the VG 10 and now prefer serrated over plain edge for a work knife.I also carry a PE G10 Endura Flat Grind for EDC out of work.PE gets slightly dull and it just slides over tubing.SE will cut hard tubing much much longer in my experience.I prefer PE for outdoor survival knife and self defense. I just ordered a PE Native that will be carried OFF the job for emergencies possibly self defense.I think you made a good decision for your needs.

I haven't been carrying Spyders to work lately, but there is a SpyKer in the mail that may change that soon. It's the perfect 3.5 inch blade length.
...oh you know why!

Regular loose carry is usually a UKPK and FRN Dragonfly. Clipped is normally a Sage II but when a "new one" shows up, it gets "tested" until I rotate out. I'm an IT consultant so I don't use my stuff like before:-) Evening/weekends - different story....:-)

I'm retired now, but from the day it came out to the day I turned in my keys there was usually a Stretch of one kind or another in my back pocket keeping the Kiwi that had been riding in my watch pocket since 2003 company.

I like to bring my Khukuri to the office. It's color and size is non-threatening, but it's also highly functional and a very fine afi' knife to 'play' with. :)

Lately when it's a Spyder, it's a Caly 3, either a CF or G10.

UKPK for now. May end up being an endura in the back pocket in a day or so.

I work from home now, so I can carry whatever I want. But, when I did work in an office, I would switch it up a lot but mostly carried a CF Stretch, and usually a Tenacious to lend to others, and for any especially dirty or rough tasks.

It varies for me. For the past week it's been the manix2 and Urban. Tomorrow it'll be the Bradley and Urban. After tomorrow It might be the Perrin ppt and urban, or maybe the poliwog in place of the Urban. Always like to have a flat ground blade in addition to a hollow ground. The Caspian Salt for now is always riding shotgun in my lunch cooler for now, sometimes joined with a Bushcraft.

The choice varies week to week. I really like the Urban though :D I think I have turned into a complete knife nut....lololol

I spend my working days in a Veterinary Hospital; my pocket knives mostly open letters and cut cardboard. Carry a BobT and a Khukuri lately. May change out the Kuk for a PPT just for variety sake. I can't carry the same knife for too long without changing off but like most of you I want my EDCs to be "fun."

Byrd Crow and Grasshopper, the two spydies I currently own that seem to go well with being clipless. Might sub in my Scorpius for the Crow so I have a PE and an SE.
