my Flat Iron Folder
my Flat Iron Folder
I bought a Flat Iron out of the Ironstone catalog many years ago. At the time (I think) that particular grip was being phased out, and it was one of the last models available with that handle. I also liked the aggressive shape!
I didn't realize until the other day that this was such a rare knife. Mine is very lightly used, but without the original box. Do collectors require the box? How important is condition? I'd like to list this on that auction site, but there is enough sentimental value that I would hate to lose it for a low price. Any thoughts?

very cool, you don't see those very often. I feel that the box isn't required as a collector but of course is more desirable. I have no idea what these are worth, don't see them often enough

make sure when you list it, and im assuming youre going to list it on ebay? that you use the words "Spyderco RARE" as the main selling point, it should get seen for sure, yours is the 2nd one ive seen so i would assume youll probably get more than you paid for it even without the box.
take detailed pics of the slight usage

Nothing is ever guaranteed on eBay, but your best chances of getting top dollar for a Spyderco are to:
- Make sure the Spyderco name, properly spelled, appears in the title of your listing.
- Take and include at least four good clear photos of the knife, two of the open knife, two of just the blade, showing both sides.
- Describe the knife as accurately as you can, do not make stuff up.
- Allow overseas buyers to bid. Right now the exchange rate is very much in their favor, so they will often outbid US buyers.
- Resist any temptation to add religious tracts to your listing.

I've never sold anything on eBay, but I believe some of the sellers who ship worldwide (or to selected countries) are "PayPal only" regardless of where the buyer is located. Given that eBay owns PayPal and encourages its use, I can't see that not being an option.P40_Warhawk wrote:Deacon,
When it comes to overseas buyers. Can you still requires that they pay via PayPal?
Thanks,
Joe

I had to laugh out loud when I read that. Hey, I'm all for everyone's belief system but please leave it out of the auction. I was looking at an auction one time and the guy/girl posted that the item came from a Christian home. I pondered for a few minutes if that made it more valuable then what the atheist was listing for sale. The Deacon wrote:Nothing is ever guaranteed on eBay, but your best chances of getting top dollar for a Spyderco are to:
