Hot weather EDC

Yesterday the temp here in NY jumped about 30 degrees, and we enjoyed 90 degree weather....That called for a change in my EDC...usually as the weather gets hotter my EDC gets lighter...but yesterday I wore my new Titanium Brand outer Vest with 12 extra pockets allowed me to carry a little something extra...what does your hot weather EDC line-up have in store for you...

No offense, but why in the world would anyone ever need to carry all of that? You plannin' on WW3 to break out?

Jowen, No offense taken...It's my job...I'm a DT Instructor for Law Enforcement Agents and need to show my guys all the possibilities...so they all get home safe....WW III would require I carry much much more LOL...Doc :D

Ah, makes sense.

I'm like "holy ****, this guy walks around all day with that load out", thinking you were just "average joe" citizen with an office job. :D

How much does all that weigh?

Hey doc, my usual edc is: military_belt carry,endura wave_right pocket,crkt triumph neck_back strap,expandable baton_belt,tear gas_belt,a mobile,some keys with chain,zippo a pack of smokes and back up lighter.... I Get cranky if I dont get my nicotine :D

I love my little CRKT Triumph Necker, very comfy in the hand and great little knife...I get cranky also if I don't get my nicotine or gun powder fix...When I get cranky the wife knows to say..."Hey..go have a smoke, or go to the range"

Wow Doc. doesnt surprise me at all, how long does it take to tap you down?

I carry 1 knife and 'something'* on hot days.

*gets defined depending on occasion and needs.

****,forgot to add the wallet :D my dmt card diamond sharpmaker is in there, the smell of gun powder i love as well,but only shot a gun on the range a few times,you have to be 21 to purchase fire arms here....well 2 more years to go,I'm thinkin bout glock 19 for starters :)

Glock 19 hmmm....I'll tell you this.. collecting firearms is an expensive hobby...knives are much more affordable...LOL.....Doc :D

Just a GB folder and SAK, no jacket is really reducing my carrying capacity, had to leave my little notebook out already.

Today, while out on a local nature reserve, I carried: my Terzuola in my RH pocket ... SAK Rambler on the car keys ... Spyderco Bug on my house keys ... iPhone ... Rogue Airhead canvas hat ... eTrex GPS ... butterfly net (with 3-stage extend-able handle) and specimen boxes ... Canon Powershot G10 camera in a belt-bag (2 spare cards & batteries) ... and anti-sting cream for the ones that decide to get nasty :D

Other configurations are used when I go to the shops :rolleyes:

Hey,are the mosquitos in the UK as bad as the ones in LT. Cuz I got attacked by a swarm when I just walked through the park area in the city,not to mention the forest trip last weekend ,had to build a quick fire dawn wind to keep the bugger's off. This year is the worst,never seen so many blood suckers.

Tenacious, wallet, keys w/ magnesium flint stick, compass, phone, nikon d40x, becker companion, cammel back with a few bottles of water, and my iPod touch. Figured I'd go for a bike and hike yesterday over to the woods and the next town, but my knee got the better of me and decided I'd better not. Today a storm's comin', but tomorrow's gonna be great. I just know it.

In my experience nothing can compare to the biting insects in the wet, Eastern European forests - especially in Russia (not sure about LT). Here in the south of England most places are too dry to get large numbers of them so we don't have a problem but up in Scotland they get a lot of biting 'midges' later in the summer and that can be ****. :eek:

I hate anything that bites or stings ... probably sacrilegious of me to say so, being an entomologist, but I have always preferred things that don't think of me as food :D

If it gets hot and I switch to lighter weight shorts/pants, something with thinner material, then I may go with a neck knife rather than a folder in the pocket. Sometimes the thin material doesn't stand up and hold shape as well with the knife in place, or it may not give as much purchase for the folder clip as I would like. This past week the Begg Tree Frog has seen a good bit of carry. Like Spyderco's Little Big Knives, the Tree Frog is much more capable than its size would indicate. It really cuts so I don't feel under-knifed, so to speak, when carrying it in place of a folder with a 3"+ blade.

I'm an entomologists and I hate mosquitoes as well, although they seem to love me. :)

I love to make smoke...LOL...The wife quit Five years ago so the Cough Drops are only to mask the smell.....No cough here!.....But thanks for your concern....Doc :D
