I got a Ti Millie about 6 weeks ago, and have carried it a bit.
At this point the locking bar is more than half way across the base of the blade.
Is this normal for a Ti Millie? My other ti framelock knives only cover about 1/4 of the blade base even after several years of use, and I'm concerned that the Millie framelock will quickly wear too far.
Comments? Advice?

More than half way? That sounds like more than 50% lock up, which apparently is less than 75%? If this is the case, then I would not be concerned personally. Depending on who you talk to, 50-75% is desirable.
If you are VERY concerned, send it in for inspection and they will have a look (and probably sharpen it). This will cost you (worst case) shipping both ways (roughly 10 bucks total). For me, that is cheap peace of mind...but it sounds like something I would not even worry about.

Many manufacturers are making their liner and framelocks lock up earlier and earlier. It is to the point now that some liner locks are coming from the factory locking up so early they are not actually safe until they break in more. People are getting more and more picky about it, and want their new knife to last for 200 years of hard use. What this has done, is it give us the percept that the farther left your liner/lock bar is... the better. This is not always the case.
Sounds like these are being made with lock up where you are speaking of. You have a lock that does not need any breaking in before you can trust it. It should give you years of good service.

If you want to drive yourself truly nuts, go to BF and read the endless threads in the CRK forum about lockup. No one ever got injured because a linerlock or framelock fully (100%) engaged. People do get injured when a linerlock or framelock has, say, 20% engagement and the lockbar disengages from the tang. >>>yeooowch<<<
What? I thought all of my :spyder: can last for eternity, you now telling me NO?! :Dmarkg wrote:People are getting more and more picky about it, and want their new knife to last for 200 years of hard use.
