FFG Delicas, quick observations

#1

So far both of my FFG delicas have had the same lose screw(the one closest to the pivot screw) and a bur in the spyderhole.

I recently picked up a Salt 1 and it also has a bur in the hole. It's very small, but I noticed it right away.

I'm guessing it's where the laser made its primary cut into the H1, but you'd assume that it would've been buffed right out when they polished the inner-portion of the hole. Odd!

I'm sure the fact that both H1 and VG-10 are Seki steels isn't a coincidence.

The newer production knives are having the problem with the burr in the hole more and more. My Stretch has one, and so does my Chinook III, which is much more pronounced.

Never seen this before. Unfortunate oversight in the QC. Hope they start addressing it.

Just received a new Delica (not FFG) Endura, and Dragonfly today, and none have a bur in the hole, and neither does my Stretch.

A G10 Endura I got a few months ago had a pretty decent burr in the hole.

No problems on the latest millie and delica I bought.

Burr is from the laser, sometimes they ream the Spydie hole out, sometimes they don't and you get a burr. You could always sand it down a bit if it bothered you. Loose screws seem to be a common problem on knives lately, I take mine out and locktite them all, that helps

i just got a g-10 endura, and it has the burr. none of my other spydies have it. i wondered about that too. seems like the jimping on the thumb rest is also kinda rough, although it's not an issue for me, it's a user. i can see the starting/stopping point of the laser in the hole.

The hole is kinda cool when you figure it's where the "frickin laser beam" cut into the blade.

Make the quote marks with your fingers. It helps with the experience ;)

all im saying in a way is that the Spyderco Quality and Control isnt the same as it use to be, maybe its the fact that they now produce 10 times the amount of knives they did in the past but the old school knives were the best, nowadays we have Spydercos produced in china and taiwan and even the America ones arent the same anymore in my eyes, ALOT will disagree but ive been carrying Spyderco for about 16 years now and ONLY Spyderco. all im saying is there is a difference with the new school and old school, maybe im totally wrong when it comes to peoples tastes... but when it comes to mine i prefer the old Seki City Japan steel with the original specs of a old school Spyderco blade.

like i said im old fashioned and i dont expect people to agree. :spyder:

i still will never carry anything other than Spyderco! Spyderco is the best and nothing compares!

You have spoken wisely ;) Fortunately, it seems that the FRN Manix comes back to the origins: linerless, spacerless, sabre grind and no Boye dent (obviously) ;)

I like the Boye Dent because I think it makes access to the lock more comfortable. The thumb gets to rest more on the lock because there is more surface area compared to pushing on a single hump.

I agree with that, too. I can't wait for everyone to rush to tell me I'm a hater  but the only reason I say it is because I'd like to see it become better. Spyderco makes the best designs by far, and I'd like to see them up it a notch in terms of quality control.
