WTC D'Allara Rescue on the bay.
First off, I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way. I just thought maybe someone here might like this.
I will not bid because as much as I would love to get this, it will go way too high for me to afford.
Just a FYI for those of you who might be looking.

They were all numbered. My avitar is a photo of my WTC number. Somehow I get the feeling you know that though, perhaps steering potential bidders away...SmoothOne25 wrote:but wait why the number?

I think it will probably go for a nice sum - I'm guessing around $5-600 ? maybe ? I'd like one as well, but I fear this will go out of my reach probably after a few bids. Nice knife, nice commemoration. Good luck to those who intend to make it theirs :)

Sorry folks. I didn't mean to upset anybody or anything. I was just trying to help.

no worries, i am sure the bidders on here are very happy that you posted it, especially because the WTC has been kind of rare lately. i usually try to keep a mental note of what people are after and when i see it for sale/auction i PM them, kind of like when i sent you the msg on the white rescue that was for sale. i am a member on another site where i made a master list of what everyone wants. it makes it much easier than trying to remember what whats-his-name wants and is it with what type of steel and with what edge and NIB or used :Dbohica1998 wrote:Sorry folks. i'll add one more thing for all you lurkers with big pockets and the need for instant gratification (Charlie Sheen comes to mind...lol) check out countryknives.com they have them for sale but it is pricey

Yes, I was serious. But then again I was also assuming that someone that had the time to make over 800 posts on a forum also had the time to read the online description of the very knife they were pursuing. Allow me to help-SmoothOne25 wrote:are you being serious?
Spyderco's World Trade Center Fundraising Knife Project began when Spyderco's owners and employees deeply wanted to contribute to a cause we felt strongly about -- helping the surviving families of the fire and police personnel that perished on September 11, 2001. A commendable outlet for doing just that was the New York Police and Fire Widow's and Children's Benefit Fund*. At the project's inception unique challenges were met by a number of same-feeling people who made it all happen. In honor of the fallen members of the Saving And Serving community we designed a variation of a sheepfoot rescue model with our new Ball Bearing Lock set in a black FRN handle. There are a total of 2819 numbered pieces, one for every life lost that day. Making the knife extraordinary is an inlay of the Twin Towers skyline cut from a steel girder retrieved from World Trade Center Tower One it is set flush into the handle. The knife is presented in a custom box of cocobolo wood. $225. per knife with all profits going to the New York Police and Fire Widow's and Children's Benefit Fund. Our gratitude for those who are helping us make this a reality.

For those bidding,
The steel for the inlay came from the east side of WTC Tower #1, the north which was hit first. The south WTC Tower, #2 was hit lower later in the attacks and collapsed first.
There's alot of stories about that day, let us not forget the individuals that perished in Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon as well.
Brings back alot of memories, almost all of which break my heart. I was taking my family to the Calgary Zoo that day. I was knowing roughly how many companies would have been committed on the first alarms, guessing 5 alarms per tower and many special calls. I even remarked that I was hoping only 50 or less guys would "get it" that day. Of couse I was praying for no one to get it although I was pretty sure it would be a bad day in the FDNY, real bad.
Also mentioned to my family and a friend with us that day that I thought it was someone with a real hate for the west and especially America, bin Laden.
I made a point of really enjoying that day with my family for I also knew that the world changed irreversibly that day for the worst. Made peace with myself thinking that if I traded places with someone in the towers that day, I'd have wanted them to live well with no regrets.
My only hope is that whomever gets it, reveres and respects what it represents and how it is tied to history. It's good to remember.

bohica1998,
I owe you a big "Thank You!". :D
Your posting caused me to not only check on the WTC knife that you linked to, but also to check the bay for new postings. A buy-it-now posting for a WTC knife was made just a short time before I logged on. So I now own WTC knife #0765. I've been trying to obtain one for a long, long time and been close on a number of occasions.
I'm grateful for you looking out for your fellow forumites, it really helped me today. Thanks again. :spyder:

congrats :) when you really think about it, the knife is much more than just a knife.RamDreamer wrote: So I now own WTC knife #0765. I've been trying to obtain one for a long, long time and been close on a number of occasions.
a few things that i remember about the that hasn't been mentioned yet are that number 1 went to then President George Bush and after the knives were made the molds were destroyed so they can never be reproduced again, for an anniversary for example. The boxes i have seen were cocobolo and some were much lighter. I have also seen extra boxes on the bay, i forgot the story behind them though.

$500 or $600  . They were no more than $229 from Spyderco and I think everyone (atleast I did and have heard of a few others) getting a FREE meerkcat with them. I remember the WTC sitting on the Spyderco e-shelves for what seemed like forever and never could believe it   This is one Spydie I could not and will not EVER consider letting go of.
