Scale color for 2010 Forum Knife - Manix 2

#1

Post by Sequimite »

It was a route, a landslide, a mandate, a crushing defeat for the other four candidates.

A decisive majority has expressed its preference for the Manix 2 to be the 2010 Forum Knife.

This poll is to select the color of G-10 to go on the Manix 2 forum knife. I have eliminated the two most common colors: black and foliage green; also blue since it just came out in a sprint run.

Depending on the spread, the top two or three vote getters will go to a second round runoff.

Purple, of course.

Yellow would be great, but only if it were turned into a Manix Salt.

I should have added that I checked with Halpern Titanium and McMaster Carr to see which colors are readily available and those are the poll choices.

I didn't want to speculate about custom colors which might present difficulties in obtaining and/or be much more expensive.

I chose red.i think that would be cool for a couple reasons, It would be the first red knife since Spyderco's early days, making it that much more special, and its a unique color for G10.

I gather that the color control from batch to batch is not great and I wonder if this is one reason that Spyderco has avoided many of these colors on regular production knives.

you know now that i think about it red may not be that bad either....
never had a red as i dislike, and dont see the point of, buying trainers despite how cool the look. i would like a nice red g10 manix or my first choice of red ukpk with a lock, not a back lock but the type of lock on mili/para's. what is it called again, internal something lock? that is what i want for a 2010 forum knife. but i will settle for anything sal with give me. but if it is a manix 2 i ask for frn and not g10 and i want the frn to look like the old frn pattern like on calypso jr's. you know the funny looking going "both directions" frn look type pattern. although you all want g10 so it wil most likely be that. so red or blue or yelow <---(never a yellow g10)

Ok hear me out.

I chose red because spyderco's colors are red and black.

I would LOVE to see a red handled and black bladed manix 2. Complete with blacked out hardware and a clip and the black CBBL like seen on the blue manix 2. I think that would be awesome. Maybe etch into the blade something cool.

My other vote would be for orange of course ;)

Blood red/Crimson strikes me as a fascinating idea, translucent just seems kind of mediocre though. Also, I feel that g10 tends to collect particulate matter rather well, so I generally frown upon light colored g10.
My :spyder:'s: Tan M4 Manix!, P'kal, Rock Salt, Pink Endura CE, Orange Moran, USN Endura, Bug, Honeybee, FRN Cricket.

Would anyone with a Leafstorm care to comment on how its scales have held up over time? If not to well, I would change my vote from translucent to red.
