Hi all, well my G10 Endura with a full flat grind showed up tonight and I am just blown away - WHAT A BEAUTY!!! Its leaps and bounds above my other endura and delicas. I've been EDCing small fixed blades for the past year and this baby will convert me back over to EDCing a folder. Home run!
With that said, I noticed that as a function of the FFG, the tip seems rather thin and delicate as compared to my standard Endura & Delica 4... Has anyone heard of the FFG tips breaking more than the other grinds? Can it stand up to the same heavy work as my standard endura and delica 4? Or is it more a specialized slicer....? I'd hate to damage such a gorgeous knife...
I don't own one of the FFG Enduras but its not thinner then the Police 3 and I haven't messed my P3 up so you should be good. Just don't be stupid with it.
It is broader and thicker than the tip on the main clip blade of my Old Timer stockman that I've used at work for twenty years. In fact, I reground mine to a finer point as soon as I got it. Yes, it is more delicate than the saber grind version, sort of like a Bradley AFV is more delicate than an M-1 Abrams.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.
I have the Green ZDP-189 FFG Endura, and though it is sleeker and more delicate looking, there is no fear of breaking the tip, unless like stated, you jamb it into things you shouldn't.
Oderint Dum Metuant - Let them hate, so long as they fear.
It is plenty stout, I accidentally knocked mine off my lap a while back and it landed tip down on the front porch, either brick or concrete portion, not sure which, and did need a tip regrind, but it only rolled, it did not chip out or lose any big portion.
Here is a pic as it is today.
