A Bigger Jester?

#1

Post by Knifewing »

I carry a micarta Jester on my key chain and think it's a great little knife. But I've been wondering...has Spyderco ever made a full-size (3-inch+ blade) version of it? To my limited knowledge, the only knife approaching the Jester in blade profile was the hookless Impala. Can anyone enlighten?

Closest things I can think of would be the Impala, Ocelot, Wegner and, currently, the Stretch. I'm glad to have them all. ;) :)

The closest IMO is the ATR.

pro-ven, pro-grip, spur and executive are all larger sizes with the same blade shape.

I've got a pro-ven and spur in my collection, had a stainless jester when they came out too.

The ATR is the giant Jester. ;)

I think you're right about the ATR. I never even thought of it--maybe because of it's cobra hood and the Jester's jimping down toward the point. But I took out my Ti ATR and put it next to my Jester and, yup, the ATR is pretty much a Jester on steroids. Although I don't own an Impala, from pix I'd say it's a close second. I'll have to keep my eyes open for a hookless Impala to show up on the Bay or elsewhere.

For what it's worth, though, I'd love to see Spyderco bring out a Jester Sr. with a 3" blade and either a burgundy micarta or an orange G-10 handle.

The Wings slipit is very reminiscent of the jester blade.

I thing the ATR blade is the closest to a big brother of jester.
