Framelock Leafstorm

#1

Post by meng »

Hi everyone, I read alot about framelocks and linerlocks and which one is better or stronger etc. I just ordered the Leafstorm with ´framelock´ or how you want to call it but my question is, how strong is such a lock? How much strength is needed to break it? How much pounds or we talking about (estimated of course) and can you easily break such al lock by a bit of musclepower?

Thanks for any reply.

Even the cheapest framelock is strong enough for any reasonable use Sal has stated he has equipment which can stress any lock made to the point of failure.

The Leafstorm's lock side frame is titanium and it is made by Spyderco, a company with a reputation for quality. So my question to you would be, what do you intend doing with at 2.5" bladed knife which offers, at best, a three finger grip to make the lock fail? Realistic answer would be, your hand would probably slide forward, and get cut, or you would lose your grip and risk stabbing yourself in the foot with the still locked knife, long before the lock would fail.

Ditto what Deacon said.It looks like the Leafstorm is a tank of a knife, don't really think you will have any problems.I like a RIL better than a liner lock due to it's beefiness.Don't know if one is stronger than the other, just purely going by looks. :)

Lets just say don't abuse the knife. OK? That's not to say if one were to stab through something like breastbone the knife would slip out of the hand/cut oneself etc., the knife would survive and also would not cut you. I dare say having never held the Tenacious, it is a knife that will cut you. And has cut people.

Actually I've handled Tenacious at the last knife show I was at. Duh!
PS Leafstorm's lanyard works great too.
