I believe the law only applies to knives carried on ones person in public. The brilliant politicians who came up with that law likely don't give a thought to the huge sharp knives used by the chef at their favorite restaurant.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

Unlawful to possess switchblades. See, CHICAGO, ILL., MUNICIPAL CODE § 8-24-020 (2005). Concealed carry of dirks, daggers, stilettos, bowie knives, “commando knives”, any knife with blade greater than two and a half inches, ordinary razors, and “other dangerous weapon” prohibited. See, id. Unlawful for person under 18 years of age to carry or possess knife with blade two inches in length or longer. See, id. Carry on person or in vehicle passenger compartment of “utility knife” (e.g., box cutter) by person under 18 years of age prohibited. Certain exceptions apply. See, id. at § 8-24-021.
"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.''

At least in Chicago, you can carry guns and the pizza is great.

In Vancouver, we can't carry guns AND the pizza is terrible! :D

Sorry, I didn't know that. :o

The Spyderco Chicago looks like a great little knife. Very high quality, and nice and beefy for it's size. With VG-10, I'm assuming it's going to be made in Japan? Also, is the 'Chicago' name finalized?

Yeah, the knife carry limits (and out-and-out gun ban) make me sad. And it's not a safe city after all that...who'd have guessed? :(

With the 2.5" length limit, I EDC a Lava. The blade's not pointy enough for optimal service in letter opening, but it's OK. Maybe when the Chicago comes out...

After the UK, Chicago also gives us a nice example of the realistic, sober-minded, caring politicians of us! Yes, my brothers and sisters, they will make our life safety! They will be there and will fight with us arm-in-arm, when we really need some help… Wake up, people! They won’t do anything for you. You will be alone when the bad guys push a 6inch auto-knife to your neck. I thought at least in America you can make your choice. You choose these bustards; you have the power to choose. Take the right choice next. The criminals only attack unprotected people. They won’t attack if they don’t know surely that they cannot hurt. They won’t take the risk for some bucks, if you can have something to surprise them (a revolver or something else). That’s the situation here in Hungary, too. And no, not the police are the goon here. Only the lawmakers.

Cheers for the nice lawmakers in Chicago!
