Stretch madness...

#1

Post by A.M. »

So, I finally pulled the trigger on a FRN PE Stretch. It came today and it has far exceeded my expectations... I've been in love with this model since it came out in SS/Kraton. I never bought one because I'm not a big fan of SS but I did handle one to see what all the fuss was about. I'm so glad that Sal provided this model on the same FRN platform as the Gen4 Endura and Delica. I would consider myself a "hard user" when it comes to knives and I've often heard that the tip of the Stretch is very thin. This always kept me from buying a ZDP CF Stretch. On my FRN Stretch the tip seems plenty strong for my purposes. Has anybody noticed a difference in the tip thickness between the ZDP Stretch and the FRN Stretch?

To me, they all appear to be the same thickness. If there's any minor difference between one knife and another, it's more likely due to the fact they're hand sharpened than which steel is involved.

I got mine last night (THANK TOM!) and I love this knife! I've always liked the Stretch design, but didn't like the stainless/kraton or ZDP steel. As soon as I heard the FRN version was a reality, I put my pre-order in for a PE. It has really exceeded my expectations and I can't say enough good about this knife.

Thanks to Sal and the Spyder Crew for bringing this great platform out in the very affordable FRN/VG-10 iteration. :D
I prefer to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
