H-1 edge retention
H-1 edge retention
I've never tried H-1 and was just curious as to any thoughts about edge retention. I've always been happy with VG-10 and was wondering if there is a small or large difference in edge retention between the two?

I agree, I have to sharpen my Pacific Salt more often than my caly 3, then again, I use it more....so I'm not really sure. It holds an edge just fine for my needsSeanski wrote:I love my Pacific Salt H1 plain edge. However, the next one I buy will be serrated. The VG-10 holds an edge better than the H1 by far in a plain edge.

Wow, I haven't been around here in a long time.
Anyway, this thread is dead on it for me. I happen to be at the beach with my family this week and I brought a folder in H1 with me. I've had it a couple years and it's not really been carried at all. This week, however, it has spent hours in the ocean and it looks like new.
I can't speak to the edge holding on mine since I've not really carried it until this week. But as I was on the beach today I had thoughts of the Caspian FB. Tending to think about the blunt edge.
Back to the point, it seems like I read a couple years ago that H1 - at least initially - had edge retention similar to AUS - 6.
